Explain the post-16 options for young people and adults.

From 2015 all young people will remain in education or training until they're 18. Raising the participation age does not mean young people must stay in school; they will able to choose one of the following options post-16:

1)Staying on at school - Schools offer a variety of courses in the sixth form. Some courses will help students develop independence skills; others may deliver vocational and academic qualifications.

2)Local colleges - Colleges of further education offer a wide range of courses, both vocational and academic, for students with both moderate and severe learning difficulties and provide additional support to enable disabled students and those with learning difficulties …show more content…

School Governors: The school governors help the school set high standards by planning for the school’s future, and setting targets for school improvements
• To be a critical friend to the school, in good and bad times, offering the school its support and advice
• To help the school to be responsive to the needs of parents and community and make the school more accountable to the public for what it does

Senior Management team: This team is made up of the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher, but depending upon the size of the school it could include senior teachers, the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and the school business manager (SBM). Their role is to set the strategic direction of the school and then manage this, lead any changes and generally make sure that the school is doing the best that it can for children that attend.

Other statutory roles like the special needs coordinator (SENCO) is the teacher with overall responsibility for coordinating provision for children with special educational needs in the school and for monitoring their progress. His/her role
