Many tragedies were witnessed, and many innocent lives were taken which made it difficult for Marjane to ignore. Once the revolution came to an end, Marjane and her friends discovered that Ramins father was in a secret police group under the Shah that had supported and killed those many innocent people. She gave herself a responsibility to do something about the chaos occurring, but her mother saw it wrong to do so. Marjane’s mother advised her that creating more problems is just going to make the situation worse, rather than better. She had a planned future ahead of her, from being a prophet and loved by all to becoming the rebellious young girl she is. As she became older that bad side ultimately matured her overall personality and made her see what was wrong, as she was in disbelief that she did such things. “ After the death of Neda Baba- Levy, my life took a new turn. In 1984 I was fourteen and a rebel. There was no justification for why this is all occurring at once, so why not blame it on the Iranian people, the ones affected and tortured by it the most.
