Many tragedies were witnessed, and many innocent lives were taken which made it difficult for Marjane to ignore. Once the revolution came to an end, Marjane and her friends discovered that Ramins father was in a secret police group under the Shah that had supported and killed those many innocent people. She gave herself a responsibility to do something about the chaos occurring, but her mother saw it wrong to do so. Marjane’s mother advised her that creating more problems is just going to make the situation worse, rather than better. Marjanes anger represents her caring nature and her mentality toward identifying the right from the wrong. She had a planned future ahead of her, from being a prophet and loved by all to becoming the rebellious young girl she is. As she became older that bad side ultimately matured her overall personality and made her see what was wrong, as she was in disbelief that she did such things. “ After the death of Neda Baba- Levy, my life took a new turn. In 1984 I was fourteen and a rebel. Nothing scared me more”(p. 145) She began to switch what was wrong into right and she represented that through her innocence, as she began to see that perceiving an image of herself playing as a rebel and torture was very wrong. When she began to see how others are also doing the wrong actions and seriously impacting others around them, it was hard to “forgive’ for Marjane. “ Bad people are dangerous, but forgiving them is, too” this quote signifies that forgiving is not going to make the bad guy better, rather give them more opportunities to be worse. She is reminded by all the bad things occurring and caused by the new Islamic Republic and begins to contradict the forgiveness given to the …show more content…
“ We could have avoided it all” which conveys how Marjane initiated a belief that it was all caused by the iranian people of the Iranian regime's own actions. There was no justification for why this is all occurring at once, so why not blame it on the Iranian people, the ones affected and tortured by it the most. She learned to forgive but it was very difficult to do so, she did not understand if anyone is going to receive the justice they need. Her mother wants her to do something, but is too scared that she will be taken as the rest of the people advocating for their rights. “ It was really our own who attacked us.” many people have apparently brought this upon themselves, by improperly wearing the veil, the possession of forbidden party fare, like drinking and partying, and all the punishments are carried out by the regime under the
