These passionate and ablaze teachers regardless many years of teaching, still jovial and show enthusiasm teaching and adapting the new set of classroom teaching skills using some sort of standards drawn for their beloved students for them to actively engaging in any classroom activities. I was listening and admiring the personalities of each speakers as they were presenting the slides and never fail to inspire and motivate me with the latest approach on how to win students’ ‘faith’ in literature. It was astounding. After the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS or KBAT) implemented in mostly questions in SPM, I am positively sure the 21st Century Teaching and Learning is capturing my attention as it is never in my train of thoughts (). ...Patricia EDU 210 Students in the 21st Century I chose to observe children for a three-hour block at my three daughter’s dance studio. These children were a variety of different ages, from three to ten. The format was both structured (during the classes) and unstructured ( in between). Girls are very giggly. Their communication style was very dramatic. During their unstructured time, girls of all ages were running around, giggling, happy and being overly expressive. All the girls smiled and were generally happy. Some of the girls communicated with more body language than the others. This was evident by them using their hands while talking or by touching each other while speaking. I witnessed many girls grab hands, arms, or hug in a loving manner to display affection as they were speaking or as part of a greeting. The girls talked about upcoming events like Christmas, gifts that they wanted and excitement over the upcoming Christmas dance recital. The older girls talked about school, upcoming tests, and the fast approaching Christmas break. There was some discussion of boys, but very little. Phrases I heard over and over were “Oh My God” and “ That’s adorbs” . As a mother of three girls, these are phrases I am very familiar with. The attitudes displayed were generally very happy. When I was thirteen I did not have a cell phone, and the internet was an uncommon luxury; not a customary part of life. Now as an adult I find that I understand less, and with time, more changes are in store for the next up and coming generation. For the past ten years I have been a youth leader at my church to teenagers from ages thirteen to twenty. I decided to conduct my observation on a church youth social gathering. The young people had gathered together at the church to play board games, however after about twenty five minutes into the beginning of the gathering the young people had not managed to actually start any of the games. Instead the girls spent their time taking pictures of themselves and each other with their phones. It was weird to watch the girls ignore each other and still communicate; they were not talking in person, but communicating on social media. In my opinion the young ladies had taken a lot of time on their appearance; having their hair, make-up, and clothing looking as though they were going out for a night on the town, and not a night of board games. On this particular night it was the homecoming for the school I had once attended. I was very excited and eager to see the changes of the school and the different attitudes of the students that attends now. When glancing through the crowds, there was an array of different age groups. Their were elementary age children, middle school, high school students and an large mount of alumni, including my self. With such a big group of attendance, I was able to focus my observation on a small group of high school boys and girls that had just recently graduated from the school. They were excited like everyone to see if our school would finally win their homecoming game and to support the school. As I begin to observe this group, I glanced around at the clothing and body art of the students. Now mind you it is an evening game. You could see a large number of people wearing the school colors which are red, white and blue. I had on my colors too but was bundled up with blanket wrapped around me. But these kids were wearing close to nothing at all. The girls had on mid drift blouses , very small shorts and tennis shoes.
