|Qualification |Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF) |
|Unit number and title |Unit 4: Development Through the Life Stages |
|Assessor name |Hayley Vincent |
|Date issued |9.11.15 |
|Hand in deadline |23.11.15 |

|Assignment title | Ageing |
Purpose of this assignment:
The purpose of this assignment is to be able to show your understanding of the theories related to ageing, the physical and psychological
changes associated with ageing.
Scenario:

In your role as a reporter for a magazine, you now need to write about the life of your chosen celebrity as they grow older. You must
imagine some of the physical and psychological changes that could affect the person in the future. You will also need to explain two
theories of ageing such as disengagement and activity theory.
Task One:

Research two theories of ageing.

Produce an A4 page article to include in the magazine that you are reporting for. In the article explain and discuss the disengagement and
activity theory or you could research alternative theories such as continuity theory.

As part of your discussion, consider the degree to which your celebrity might disengage or stay actively involved with social activities as
they become older, discussing how two theories of ageing influences the development of your celebrity. You might like to consider the role
of continuity (how important it will be for your celebrity to keep their interests) when you discuss disengagement and activity theory.
Task Two:

For this task produce an A3 page article to include alongside the previous task in the magazine you are reporting for.

In this article, consider if your chosen celebrity was to be supported at home, or in care and evaluate how theories of ageing influence
health and social care provision.

If your celebrity was being supported at home or in care would they be supported to maintain continuity with their past? Would they be
expected to withdraw, or would they be encouraged to remain active in order to prevent excessive disengagement?
Task Three:

Some people may no longer want to appear in public or be photographed. Other people will continue to develop their celebrity status as they
age. Explain the physical and psychological changes that occur with ageing.

For each of the physical changes that occur with ageing, discuss how they affect your celebrity’s self-esteem and self-confidence, bearing
in mind their current lifestyle.

...Activity 1.1.4 Pulley Drives and Sprockets | | Introduction Pulleys and sprockets achieve the same tasks as gears by transferring power through rotary motion. Depending on how pulleys and sprockets are applied, speed, direction, and torque can be modified within the system. Pulleys and sprockets are both used in everyday machines ranging from industrial applications to moving printer heads within a desktop printer. Typically, belts and pulleys are easier to manufacture, lighter weight, and less expensive to purchase than sprockets and chains. Although chains and sprockets are more difficult to manufacture and often noisier, they have the advantage of not slipping as easily and tend to be more durable than a belt and pulley system. Procedure In this activity you will learn about belt and pulley systems and sprocket and chain systems. You will calculate ratios of examples of both systems in a lab environment. Belt and Pulley Systems A driver pulley (input) powers one or more driven pulleys (output). The pulleys are connected by belts. The ratios are based on the relationship between the different pulleys. As shown in Figure 1, pulleys manipulate torque and speed. | | Figure 1 The ratios of belt and pulley systems are the same as for gears. The exception is that there are no teeth on a pulley to count, so you must rely on the diameter of each pulley. It is common for multiple pulleys to be used with a single belt as seen in Figure 2. How to Write a Resume

...HOW TO WRITE A RESUME Your resume is an important document, which a potential interviewer will use to make their first assessment of you. The information and template below will help you produce a resume that is easy to read and packed with facts. Contact details Add your contact details at the top of the page. Include name, address, phone number, mobile and email. Make sure your name and contact details are on each page just in case the pages get separated after being printed out in hard copy. Only use professional-sounding email addresses. An email address like drunk-n-drunker@ may give the wrong impression. Birth date and marital status You are not obliged to include either your birth date or marital status – it’s up to you. Lay out There are many layout styles; our advice is to keep it simple. Pick a font style that is easy to read – not too flowery or ornate. Bold for headings are easy to read. Use dot points if you want, but just the one type. The content of the resume is the most important thing. Summarising your strengths You can do this two ways, either list your “Key Strengths” in dot points or include a section under a heading like “Career Profile”. Key Strengths Use dot points to highlight your key strengths. The aim of the section is to give the person reading your resume a quick snapshot of what you have to offer. For example: • High level computer skills including Excel, Word and Powerpoint. • Five years experience in...

Term Paper

...------------------------------------------------- MTA Announces Proposals for Fare Increases The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has unveiled proposals that would increase fares and tolls to raise additional, vitally needed revenue to support the New York region's transportation system. The increases come during an era of successful and unprecedented MTA management actions to cut controllable expenses. In fact, the MTA will spend less in 2012 on its controllable costs than it did in 2011. Year-over-year controllable costs are lower by 0.3%. "Costs that the MTA does not exercise control over, namely those for debt service, pensions, energy, paratransit, and employee and retiree health care, continue to increase beyond the rate of inflation," said MTA Chairman and CEO Joseph J. Lhota. "We are grappling with long-term measures to reduce these frustrating and difficult non-discretionary expenses, but today, they are the drivers of the need for a fare and toll increase." The fare and toll proposals will be the subject of a geographically diverse, multi-platform public review process that starts today and lasts through mid-December. The proposals will be subject to modification after the public review process and will be considered for adoption by the MTA Board at its December 19 meeting. The new fare and toll rates would go into effect on or about March 1, 2013. "The public will have significant input into our decision-making process. In the spirit of transparency...
