Planning
According to smallbusiness.chron.com, “the planning function of management controls all the planning that allows the organization to run smoothly. Planning involves defining a goal and determining the most effective course of action needed to reach that goal.”

Organizing
The overall structure of the company is dictated by the organization and the the leadership behind it. The organizational structure is what helps determine how the company actually functions.

Leading/Managing
In his 1989 book “On Becoming a Leader,” Warren Bennis composed a list of the differences between management and leadership. He says, “The manager administers; the leader innovates. The manager is a copy; the leader is an original. The manager maintains; the leader develops. The manager focuses on systems and structure; the leader focuses on people. The manager relies on control; the leader inspires trust. The manager has a short-range view; the leader has a long-range perspective. The manager asks how and when; the leader asks what and why. The manager has his or her eye always on the bottom line; the leader’s eye is on the horizon. The manager imitates; the leader originates. The manager accepts the status quo; the leader challenges it. The manager is the classic good soldier; the leader is his or her own person. The manager does things right; the leader does the right thing.” The biggest thing that needs to be taken away from this is that managing and leadership work in conjunction with each other, but they are two totally different things.

Controlling
According to small business.chron.com, “The controlling function of management is useful for ensuring all other functions of the organization are in place and are operating successfully.”

...The influence of cultural difference on managing emotions in project management teams. Abstract Managing emotions is a part of emotional intelligence that is, according to previous researches, counted as a significant aspect for successful management of project teams. With globalisation companies hire employees with different cultural backgrounds which is in its turn may lead the possibility of misunderstandings between team members. The purpose of current study is to examine the relationship between the outcomes of managing emotions test and different cultural background of individuals. In this study 30 participants of 6 different nationalities took part whose professional field is project management. Data collection process was conducted through self-report scaled questionnaire based on Mayer–Salovey–Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) but only four factors of MSCEIT that relate to emotional management branch was used for assessment. However, the findings of the survey indicated that ability to manage emotions does not relate to nationality. Also, the limitations and obstacles of this study are presented. 1 Introduction 1.1 Background The first definition of emotional intelligence that was given by Professors P. Salovey and J. Mayer states that emotions can influence the logical thinking and goal focused actions. Moreover, it can improve rationality. Providing Quality in Healthcare

...The aim of this assignment is to consider Coulshed and Mullender’s statement (2001) that “the ultimate test of quality will always be what users and their families think of the services we provide” and then critically discuss the issues involved in seeking feedback on quality. Within this assignment I will draw upon course materials as part of my discussion. I will also draw upon some wider materials to broaden the discussion. In order to conduct the discussion I will first look at what service-user consultation is and how it is undertaken; and then I will look at both the positives and negatives in seeking feedback on the quality of a service. Introduction: Quality matters. Increasingly the idea of quality has impacted on health and social care services. The ever increasing number of quality initiatives being developed by the Government is just one example of how it is having an impact. Another way is the drive towards and focus on gaining service users views of services. And the reason behind it all is simple, the quality of a service impacts on the quality of life for its users and their carers. Service User Consultation: In the opinion of Martin and Henderson (2001) you can’t provide a quality service without knowing what kind of people use your service and what they need from your service. Writers such as Peters believe that the best way to find out these things is to work closely with service users and communicate with them. One way to do this would be to undertake...
