Strategic Plan, Part 1: Conceptualizing a New Business
Introduction
When I say " Pappadeaux Restaurant," many envision the many delicious mouth watering cuisines that this restaurant is so famous for. The Pappas trade name is a southern powerhouse, notorious for nourishing individuals and families by the masses for approximately 39 years. Founders Chris and Harris Pappas, according to their website,
…were encouraged to avoid the restaurant industry and given warnings about its long hours and unpredictable schedules. The brothers managed to stay away – for a little while. Harris earned a finance degree from Texas A&M University and served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Chris received a degree in engineering from the University of Texas and took a job at IBM computers. But the lure of the restaurant biz proved too strong for both brothers. Soon, Harris found himself managing his father Jim's first restaurant, the Dot Coffee Shop, only to be followed shortly by Chris who stepped in at his brother's request. (About Us, 2015)

The initial restaurant started by Chris and Harris was The Strawberry Patch. This was only the beginning. As of today the brothers currently own and control virtually 100 restaurants in as many as seven states. Pappadeaux is one of nine trade names. So everyone will be happy with something from which Pappas offer. Their food ranges from Tex-Mex and steaks to the other end of the spectrum of Cajun- enthused cuisines.
The Pappa brothers took a basic vision of owning a restaurant from their grandfather and grew it into the company it is today. They have such a unique way of doing their business. They not only direct the day to day activities of their restaurants in order to provide for their constant visitors, but they also hold

Business Venture

...Venture Name BUS/475 Date Teacher Business Venture In business, startups occur each day only to shutdown as fast they startup. This can be attributed to improper planning, leadership, or a lack of strategic direction. The reason a business incorporates strategic management and planning is to ensure proper direction and long term planning becomes the backbone of any decisions made. In essence, the direction is mapped out in step-by-step process that allows a business to follow. Strategic Management “is the set of decisions and actions that result in the formulation and implementation of plans designed to achieve a company’s objectives” (Strategic Management, 2009). For example, if a new micro brewery wanted to open, this first step that needs to be determined is the long term plan. The brewery will have to determine if the business that will continue to expand to other locations, or if it is a business that will first attempt to establish itself in place and develop a name. In addition the atmosphere needs to be determined casual or formal, food, or no food. Each of these choices will require different designs. The Brewery will require the manager to maintain long-term contracts with brewing suppliers, restaurant suppliers, food distributors, and equipment suppliers. From a long-term perspective, fresh talent from local culinary schools could add flare to the menu if the business is based more on gourmet dining than casual. These agreements are strategic because they...
