48 Hours in Granada, Spain

The city of Granada, with the awe-inspiring snowcapped peaks of the Sierra Nevada as the backdrop, is perhaps the most romantic and dramatic destination in Spain. Our suggested itinerary is designed to show you the best the city has to offer and what are the things you can accomplish in 48 hours. Depending on your interests and travel priorities, you can certainly mix and match destinations, activities, and attractions.
Things to know before travelling in Spain:
Language - Spanish is the official language of Spain. Also called Castilian, it is the first language of over 72% of the population in the country. Other languages are also spoken in certain areas such as Catalan in Catalonia, Galician in Galicia, Basque …show more content…
A tour of The Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a great way to get acquainted with the city. Join a guided tour to learn about its beautiful Moorish architecture and the history behind it. According to historians, the centre of Moorish power was transferred in Granada after the fall of Cordoba in 11th century, that's why they built some of the most impressive structures (eg. The Alhambra) at that time. After your tour of Alhambra, take a stroll through the gorgeous Generalife (garden of paradise), a charming garden often said to have been a favorite of the kings of Granada. After your tour, you may ask your guide where to get the best tapa for your dinner later, that is if you have not done your research …show more content…
Menú del Día lets you choose one dish as a starter and another dish as your main course. Normally, these lunch sets include a drink, dessert (called Postre) and bread. Also, remember that lunch is quite late in Spain, usually between 1PM to 3 PM, so make sure to get a hearty breakfast before your tour.
After lunch, spend your afternoon at one of Granada’s best-loved churches like the Cathedral and Royal Chapel (Capilla Real). Next to the cathedral is Plaza Bib Rambla, a great place to people watch. In the late afternoon, pick a neighborhood to explore like Calle Navas, a lively street packed with bars and tapa restaurants. If you would like to get a few tasty drinks after tapa-hopping, then head to Escudo 11.

Developing the Internet: Entrepreneurship and Public Policy in Comparative Perspective

...ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND PUBLIC POLICY IN COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE Abstract The internet has not diffused uniformly throughout the world. Data on 142 countries indicate that, aside from the levels of economic and infrastructural development, cross-national differences have to do with whether the legal system fosters entrepreneurship, and with whether institutional and political conditions are stable, and democracy is the form of government. Competition and privatization policies in the area of telecommunications do not have consistent effects. After examining international patterns of diffusion for the world as a whole, differences between two matched pairs of countries are systematically compared: Ireland and Singapore, and Argentina and Spain. Patterns of entrepreneurship and public policy in each country are shown to have differed systematically, with distinctive consequences for the development of the internet. Keywords: Worldwide diffusion of the internet; entrepreneurship; privatization. 3 1. Introduction The internet has not diffused throughout the world in a uniform way. The percentage of the population who is a regular user ranges from over fifty percent in Scandinavia to less than 1 percent in many underdeveloped African, Central American, and...

...BestJet B: The European budget airline industry: origins, growth, market and competition May 2006 __________________________________________________________________ Allan Kinross prepared this case. It is intended to be used as a basis of class discussion rather to illustrate the effective or ineffective handling of an administrative situation Introduction to the European budget airline industry After 9 years of spectacular growth and success, at the beginning of 2006 the European low cost budget airline sector still faced a number of challenges. Though the industry had consolidated with easyJet’s acquisition of Go and Ryanair’s takeover of Buzz, every month in the new millennium seemed to see the start up of new budget airlines and new routes or bases being announced. There were over 75 in autumn 2004. Leading players, easyJet and Ryanair, had orders between them for over 300 aircraft requiring both to more than double in size in the face of growing competition from new entrants, a fight back by established airlines and powerful tour operators. In the two and a half years to October 2004, average seat prices had continued to fall, and Ryanair had not managed to sell all of its ‘free’ seats on offer in special promotions. Revenues were under attack from extreme overcapacity and costs were hit by high fuel prices. In the future, would there be enough (profitable) growth for all, and where would that growth...

Aesthetics of Representing Cultural Paradigms in Rushdie

...In the contemporary century where the world is metamorphosed to a global village, the concept of national culture and national literature is certainly belied. The World literature, today, simultaneously represents an important multicultural perspective within individual national literatures as well as more global perspective taking in the phenomena of transculturalism and diaspora confluence. Centripetal and centrifugal forces can be discerned as both antagonistic and complementary forces in cultural development. Raymond Williams develops a theory of relation between culture at large and cultural products like literature. Culture is manifested in human artifacts and activities such as music, literature, life-style, food, painting, sculpture, theatre and film. It can be said that arts and the world of science with their moral systems come to form culture. These are constantly in a spatio-temporal flux that renders an inexhaustible range of meanings and a catalogue of the elements. In this process of evolution a particular aspect dominates or fades off at some space-time coordinate. The pattern of human activity and the symbolic structures give such activities significance and importance. Rushdie, like other postcolonial writers not only reflects upon the political aspects of history but also deconstructs the interrelationships between history and individual to delve into the moral and psychological tensions of the native homeland. His novels are the fine example where ethics of...
