When there are teams of professionals around a child, regular meetings are held to discuss any issues or progress made and ways to achieve a positive outcome for the child and parent. Also relevant referrals can be made to specialist agencies. Working together prevents duplication across all agencies, contributing to better support for the family. For example I send weekly reports to the social worker’s to update them on the progress of the young mothers and their babies. This report contains a variety of information from bonding and feeding baby to the well being of the mother. This ensures that all support is in place to help the development of the baby and parenting skills of the mother.

(5.1) (5.2) Times of transition can affect children and young people in many ways and can be stressful and can also affect children’s emotional wellbeing and academic achievement.

For example, when my son was in lower school and going up into year 2, he was extremely anxious about having a new teacher and went through a phase of always wanting to go the toilet. This happened for a short while until he was comfortable with his new teacher and his new routine. To try and combat this I would ensure we would talk about his day at school on a daily basis and I liaised with the school. If issues are not identified or dealt with at times of transition this could lead onto further problems, which could affect their emotional, intellectual, physical and psychological

The results showed that there was a positive correlation between the parents’ level of education, income and occupation with pupil’s educational performance. Fathers’ education was significant at 0.804 while mothers’ educational level was significant at 0.641. Parent’s level of income was significant at 0.875 and Parents’ occupation was significant at 0.757. These findings are consistent with the concept of social reproduction by Pierre Bourdieu (1986), Annet Lareau (2003) and Randall Collins.
