Introduction
The word “hang-out” can either be a verb or a noun. If it is taken as a verb it means the act to spend one’s time idly or in loitering around (Merriam Webster’s Intermediate Dictionary). If it is taken as a noun, it means the PLACE where a group of people stays without doing anything in particular. However, the researcher will be focusing more on the second definition but still consider the first definition, mainly because we have a wide range of places to choose from ; like places inside the University Campus, a friend’s house, a shopping mall or any other place that a certain group of individuals choose. As everyone is inadvertently exposed to strenuous and demanding work either in school/workplace, all of us needs that refreshing and much needed stop to break the monotony of working for/ studying for a long stretch of hours. This is where “hang-outs” come in, when there is a need for relaxing or unwinding at the end of a stressful day/week; inevitably the necessity for a place to relax also arises. Of course as a person either engaged in these activities (studying or working), stress and pressure are usually associated with your workplace or classroom. Therefore anyone can encounter difficulties relaxing in certain place a person associates with stress and pressure. In short the researcher is implying the importance of a hang-out, being in a hang-out does not necessarily mean you have to be in a very far place from your school/workplace but rather, just a different atmosphere. Hang-outs provide that much needed change of atmosphere, from a pressure-filled one to a placid, amiable and relaxed one. As we admitted that relaxation is very important, therefore the hang-out is also an important factor by itself.
