Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet

Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: I listen to my body. When something is wrong is go to the doctor to find out what’s wrong. I do not ignore the problem and hope that it goes away.

Social health: I enjoy going out to dinner, movies, or clubs with my friends. This helps keep my mental health issues in check.

Intellectual health: I always make mistakes just like everybody. I do not let that get me down, I continue to learn and grow and adjust my behavior so that I will no longer make that mistake.

Environmental health: This is important to me. I always recycle everything that I can when I am done with it. I also try to keep the lights off in my apartment, and take shorter showers. I also use energy efficient light bulbs.

Emotional health: This is kind of attached to my mental health issues. In order for me to have a balanced emotional state I take medication. I also know how to recognize when I get stressed, and can take necessary steps to reduce my stress level and relax.

Spiritual health: To me this means being connected to the energy that surrounds us. I also take the time to meditate and think about what is really important in life, and what I want out of life.

In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health.
