Although we hadn’t made the playoffs it was still a big game since it was the last game of the season as well as me and many teammates last time playing together. As the bell rung to dismiss my class I could feel the butterflies in my stomach start to grow, nervous and anxious to play as I always was even though the game didn’t start for another 5 hours. I went on about my day as I normally would, went home and took a nap. After waking up and getting ready for the game I was finally back at school which is when I really began to feel the pressure. It was as if my heart was hanging by a thread, ready to drop into my stomach and join what felt like a million butterflies. With every step I took the gymnasium only grew in size, making me more nervous. We were all walking silently, my teammates and I, mentally preparing ourselves for what was about to take place. As we reached the entrance and took our first steps inside, all that was happening overcame me. The reader may conclude that for Mr. Ashe, due to his participation in a white-dominated sport, escaped from the violence plaguing many African-Americans as they battled for equality and justice. In addition, the color white can signify many ideas, from racial purity to cleanliness to surrender in a battle. ...In Latin America, the popularity of the sport is growing rapidly and the most recent of talent into the NBA is migrating from Latin America. The cultural popularity of the sport was growing exponentially and is well documented in China with the likes of Yao Ming and Jeremy Lin who are Asian sensations. The reason for this is still somewhat of a mystery today. A reason for this type of 'behavior' may have been that life on the coast and islands was much easier compared with the harsh jungle climate and equally dangerous animals. The soils may have been easier to cultivate and maybe because the population was growing, more land was needed to farm, hunt and fish. This type of settlement pattern began to change as the Caribs began their movement into the Caribbean as well. The BCS chooses the two teams who gets to play for the crystal ball; which is the trophy for winning the national championship game. Although the current Bowl Championship Series gives us a national champion, it doesn’t necessarily give us the nation’s best team. The BCS sets up a two team playoff for the title. However, if the national champion ends undefeated, there could also be one or more other undefeated teams from the other BCS bowls. In no other sport, does the season end with more than one “perfect” team. It is not in the interest of college football fans, players, coaches and schools that this bowl system decides who gets to play in the “big” game. To have a season end with multiple undefeated teams in general is not a good model for sports today. At the beginning of this journey, Elliot, a white male, seemingly in his late twenties to early thirties, is a nerdy adult. In the first scenes, he is wearing a fully buttoned up shirt with a tie underneath his sweater vest, all of which highlight the large glasses on his face. Elliot seems to hide behind his clothes and his glasses because he is not comfortable with himself.
