The team has been asked by your company president to describe a successful student.

The characteristics of a successful student revolve around a number of decisions that one has to make about their life. They have to first make a decision as to what their ultimate goal is and what’s motivating them towards this goal. Based on this initial goal they then have to determine how they’re going to get there and if they have the time, ability and drive to accomplish it. Once all of these items have been considered and the person decides to move forward they then have to formulate a plan on how to best take on the tasks, assignments or schooling required. As a reminder a student doesn’t necessarily mean someone is attending school in an institutional setting.
When starting the learning process it’s important that the student understand key factors about themselves. If they went through the deliberation process outlined above they have already started understanding more about themselves that will ultimately lead to their success. The student has to understand strengths, weaknesses and be open for constructive criticism at all times. They have to be attentive, unafraid to ask questions or bring up objective views that may relate to their own experiences. They also have to be self-motivated and understand that they may be asked to do things they are uncomfortable with or work with people that have varying points of view.
The key is to ensure they are always approaching every situation with an open mind and from a glass half full mentality. A successful student has to be able to manage distractions such as work, home and or extracurricular activities ensuring they have the ability to manage their own time effectively and efficiently. While it’s important to be a good listener it’s also important to challenge the instructor to clarify issues that you may not

Taking Steps to Becoming a Sucessful Person and Student

...Taking Steps to Becoming a Successful Person and Student Gertrude Payton General Sciences 200 Instructor: Stephen Burgor September 16, 2014 The only individual who can determine my success or failure is me. Time management between my education and personal life will be a challenging responsibility as balance is needed. While taking advantage of every opportunity to use various tools and strategies available to help me gain knowledge and understanding in an effective way. I am taking steps to becoming a successful person and student through time management, hard work, determination, perseverance, along with accountability. Returning back to school has made me transition into a learning mode/mentality. The learning process is taking some adjustment as I have been out of school for many years. I know that I can succeed because I am motivated (Ellsworth, 1997). Some concepts and ideas are not always understood by me but I have found that I can begin to understand by reading, doing my assignments, and asking questions. Discouragement sometimes comes to me when things are not going exactly as I would like but I keep trying. This helps me to stay encouraged even in times when I want to quit or give up. I press ahead and stay positive. Although leadership may come calling without request, more often it comes to those who prepare for it by planning their careers (Andolsen, 2008). I decided to start planning my career by getting enrolled in school and research...

...a better opportunity to self promote. Empowerment is a little more in depth and requires more time. Time apparently seems to be an issue with women in the industry, so having the participation method I see would be more effective. They attend the same mettings and voice what they see fit. Thus, taking "less" time for women to prepare their thoughts and enables them to "self promote". Question Three: I feel that my husband and I are actually at that point in our life. We are both college students, full time associates, homeowners, and want a family. We often discuss what our options would be when it came to parenting. How are we going to balance home, work, and childcare? If we weren't on the same page with the future we would sit down and listen to each other. We both must look at the others thoughts as valuable and reasonable. We also need to know exactly what we want out of life and what we want in our careers. Being aware that we are currently in the "hole" financially with student loans, considering where we plan on going with our careers and our plans makes a huge difference on child bearing. We don't want to struggle. We want our children to have things they want, in moderation. We both want to be with larger coperations and...

Democratic Debate Pros And Cons

...Sanders wanted colleges to be tuition-free but paid by taxing the Wall Street. Clinton says that tuition should be calculated by how much a family can afford to pay. O’Malley said that he wants to let people with student debts refinance their loans and that he would automatically enroll all borrowers in income-based repayment plans. He’d also like to limit tuition at four-year public colleges to 10% of a state’s median income. In my opinion, I would comply with Sander’s idea because Wall Street keeps all the money because they are very greedy. I’d also agree with O’Malley’s idea since it seems efficient and simple in my...

I Think Someone Stole

...All budgets for the project have been depleted and yet there are several steps needed to complete the project that require funding.   If the budget has been depleted and the project still requires funding, the project leader has to propose a plan to prioritize the tasks that has to be completed without affecting the project. The project leader should be able to figure out which of the customer priorities can be compromised and by how much. The WBS element has to be reviewed and reworked on with the new funding. Associated risks also have to be reviewed in case some of the tasks are eliminated. If the customer is willing to delay the project, because of budget constraints, then the project leader can cut some resources to manage cost and finish the project at a later date. The project leader should encourage the team to use cost effective measures for all the remaining steps of the project. It is important that the project leader motivates the team by appreciating their work completed so far and help them understand that the work they are doing is important and is likely to be successful if they give their best in the last steps of the project and that they will be rewarded fairly for their efforts.    New information comes to light that radically affects the project’s scope; for instance, management has recently purchased equipment that functions more effectively than the project team’s solution.   When controlling scope changes, project leaders need to be effective negotiators...

The Desire to Retire

...Barry Cameron UIN # 00728497 FIN 317 Mon 4:20 SUCESSFUL RETIREMENT PLANNING THE DESIRE TO RETIRE Everybody looks forward to the day that they no longer have to fight traffic or deal with an unappreciative boss. A time when one can focus on more meaningful things in one’s life. Spending more time with family, traveling, hobbies, volunteer work, becoming more active in the community or church; or “do nothing” as forty percent of Americans plan to do upon retiring from the work force. Without the promise of retirement, many would find it very difficult to get out of bed and head to work each morning. “Retirement is a fairly recent phenomenon. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, few people retired, because they simply could not afford to do so. As white – collar jobs replaced a predominantly agricultural economy incomes rose and people had more money with which to retire” (Cullinane and Fitzgerald, 3). People began living longer and found that they had more leisure activities from which to choose from. In the United States, the invention of social security and company pensions greatly contributed to the ability of Americans to retire from the work force. RETIREMENT PLANNING Retirement Planning is an attempt to figure out how much money you need to save each month in order to have a comfortable retirement. It is an attempt because retirement planning requires you to try to predict the future. Nobody really knows what kind of return their...

State Deficit

...Introduction This paper will discuss the two main causes of state budget deficit; overspending and not enough tax revenue as well as the impacts states continue to feel from the recession. The paper will also make recommendations to resolve state deficit. Overspending Figure 1 Figure 1 Currently, government spending in many states is much higher than tax payers can sustain. A major factor to state overspending is the forgetfulness of state officials that the government is supposed to exist to serve citizens not the other way around. One state in particular, California, is a prime example of state overspending. Figure 1 demonstrates California’s Total Expenditures from 1995-2012. There are five main areas where the California legislature failed their citizens when it comes to spending. The first area is their complicated institutional framework. Having a complicated institutional framework increases the cost of operating the government. For example, California pays for multiple administrators to do the same type of work in different departments. They also have additional administrators to coordinate the overlapping work of the different departments. Another area where California fails is their lack of coordination for their health and human services, this lack of coordination results in the second largest source of California’s government expenses. There are 33,000 employees in the health and human services organization of the government, $83 billion...
