Holocaust Abd Film

...Film Bios The first film I watched called The Ambulance, was really intense. This is because an event and emotions were all captured without their being any words in the film. It was only about 15 minutes. But in the film, there is an ambulance. A group of children and a guard with a dog that kept barking. A little child goes up to the dog and is frightened by the dog. There was also a man with these children. Then someone, (a man) is seen covering the exhaust pipes of the ambulance. This part really touched me because I know that when exhaust fumes are covered, they are trapped in the vehicle and you will die. So, he does this and gets in the ambulance and drives a bit by pressing the gas pedal. The next event, they toss these kids one by one on to the ambulance. Just like they weren’t even kids at all. Especially 2 or 3 of the kids, were violently thrown in. The next thing I saw was the man that was with the kids get in as well. It was silent because the director said that words just would not do it justice. People sometimes do end up getting lost in what is going on because they are listening to what is being said. There is no need to have them talking because it’s really self-explanatory and speaks by what is being shown. I learned that these kids were being taken and killed by the loads. It’s sad to think of these kids as alone and being murdered, but this one man that went with them, who didn’t have to, died with them. Very touching and it’s something ...

Training Abd Development

...New Trends in Training and Development: A Model Essay The main reasons for the rapidly growing demand for training and development are for self-enrichment and survival in response to the chaos of the current workplace. Employees are realizing that the knowledge and skills they acquired in college are becoming obsolete, and they need to constantly stay flexible, marketable, and competitive. Japanese companies are as committed as ever to workers training; and skill development. This will be helpful in combining over all organizational growth along with personal growth, which enabled fulfillment to the individual as well as the organization. Training used to be focused more on enabling an employee to perform his/her current job effectively and efficiently and the evaluation used to be based on whether it contributes to current strategic goals. Wachovia Corporation assesses the impact of training on the business performance of the company through meeting the expectations of the top management; development of evaluation strategy and data collection plans, improvement of work performance. The New Zealand's Advertising Guru states, "The single biggest waste of training dollars is when management spends money on training but doesn't understand why." He further quotes that "Investing in skills isn't something enterprises should do because someone tells them to, but because it's central to their future success." In the modern era as globalization and competition increase training systems...

Probation Abd Punishment

...Probation and Punishment Criminal Justice 06/09/2014 Professor Karina Probation and Punishment Probation is an option provided by the court as a form of supervised punishment for criminal offenders that do not pose a major threat to society. After reviewing the file of Kris, Robert Donovan, a Jurisville probation officer, has suggested intensive probation. Probation officers review the file of a criminal defendant and make recommendations to the court. Intensive probation refers to supervision by a probation officer that is highly structured and designed to divert the offender from going to prison. Criminal defendants sent to prison are far more likely to commit further crimes upon their release then the defendant placed on probation. When reviewing the case of Kris the probation officer would have seen that the defendant committed a nonviolent crime with the theft of the jacket but Kris confessed to committing the crime which is a felony and must be punished. Instead of sending Kris to jail, where he will potentially learn new criminal skills, he can be placed on probation and given an opportunity to learn a new set of behaviors towards crime. Probation does not only allow the criminal defendant to avoid jail it provides an opportunity for the probationer to make positive changes and become a more productive member of society (Howell, 2009). Secondly probation helps to relieve overcrowding in prison. Many prison systems are overcrowded with prison...

Ladies Abd Gentlemen

...Ladies and Gentlemen Project Paper Shantrice Scott Strayer University Dr. Hunsucker HUM111 November 24, 2014 Many students set goals with the hope that their achievements may help them be accepted into their chosen college. Unfortunately, they often put too much emphasis on one area and do not take part in a wide range of activities. Bewildered college applicants often say, "I've had a perfect average since I started junior high. How could they reject me?" What they do not realize is that schools are interested in more than just intellectual achievements. Others find themselves saying, "I am the best baseball player in my school. Why did I get rejected?" This also proves that college acceptance is not based on an athletic single area of activity, whether academic, musical, or Statement of Purpose. (Allen 1996) I firmly believe that it is important to be well-rounded, taking part in both challenging and interesting activities instead of just focusing on athletics or academics. I understand that proving oneself to be an outstanding athlete requires much skill development and hours of practice, and this is true for demonstrating intellectual ability, too. But a truly capable person balances many activities. Taking part in school, athletics, music, community service, extra-curricular activities, academic clubs, social clubs, hobbies and spending time with friends and family are the qualities that describe a truly well-rounded person. Sometimes students' ideas about...

...State and Local Government Dr. U 2.2 State Constitutions: An Overview All state constitutions have a bill of rights, which are written protections for basic freedoms that mostly reflects the United States Constitution. The basic freedoms being the freedom of speech, religion, and the right to assemble. The right to bear arms is one of the rights discussed in the passage referring to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut. On December 14, 2012 a gunman entered Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed at total of 20 children and six adults. Many states include provisions that guarantee the right to bear arms. Other states hold that right for people to bear arms in self-defense. The Supreme Court resolved the meaning of the second amendment in two important cases in 2008 and 2010. The District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), the Supreme Court held that “The second amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia and to use that firearm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.” In McDonald v. Chicago (2010), a case challenging Chicago’s complete ban on handguns. The court held that “that the Framers and ratifiers o the fourteenth Amendment counted the right to keep and bear arms among those fundamental rights necessary to our system of ordered liberty. But the opinion also stated the second amendment right is not unlimited. Following that the state of New York acts quickly and the...

...Original title: The English Language performance of ‘Orang Asli’ pupils at primary level in Malaysia: an extensive case study of a Malaysian state Authors: Zuraihan Abd Kassim & Airil Haimi Mohd Adnan BEd TESL programme & UfoRIA UiTM Perak, Malaysia Abstract: English has long been an important subject in Malaysian schools. In fact, the Ministry of Education has recently introduced a new syllabus for Mathematics and Science subjects to be taught in English. Unfortunately, learning a second language is not an easy task as the learner needs to be receptive, responsive and know the value of the language. Certain factors also influence the learner’s capability in acquiring English: attitudes and motivation are some of them. This empirical study examines the performance of ‘Orang Asli’ students in the English language as related to the above factors. This research is the result of our frustration in trying to upgrade the level of English among Orang Asli students. We also wanted to know whether the problems faced by English teachers (in teaching this group of students) are similar across different contexts and situations. In order to limit the scope of this research, we have chosen two language skills namely reading and writing, to explore the complex issues that we have highlighted above. Our efforts were primarily focused on students’ performance in these two language skills, as both skills are important for students to acquire English as a whole. We also felt that these two...

Without a doubt Americans everywhere will always remember the tragic events that took place on 9/11 at the World trade Center and the Pentagon. “The loss of lives and property on 9/11 was not large enough to have had a measurable effect on the productive capacity of the United States even though it had a very significant localized effect on New York City and, to a lesser degree, on the Washington, D.C. area” (Woodside & McClam, 2011, pg.? ) . The act of violence of 9/11 changed many lives and brought back many memories such as the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, DDG 67 on 12 OCT 2000. As a result every day is a recap of how life has changed with longer lines at airports, concrete barriers, a greater police presence in cities, and increased emphasis on biological weapons research.
