Do you think it is appropriate for a leader to spend time developing a team’s emotional intelligence (EI)? Why or why not?
Having the ability to identify emotions is one of the factors in emotional intelligence. It is absolutely important that leaders should spend time to developing a team’s emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence plays a vital part on how we deal with others. The benefit of emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive, identify, understand and successfully manage emotion in self and others (Daft, 2008). The ability to perceive emotions means correctly identifying one’s feelings or emotions. We need to be observant and sensitive on one’s facial expression and body language as these can tell us what the other person feels without him/her saying a word. Understanding emotions is another factor in emotional intelligence. This is the ability to analyze the perceived emotions of other person and interpret what it means. Not all people have this ability. Emotional intelligence is managing emotions. This is the most important factor in emotional intelligence. This is the ability to control your emotions and respond appropriately to others. Building a strong base of emotional intelligence allows leaders to direct and guide teams and organizations (Daft,2008). Leaders who are emotional intelligent are able to control their feelings and act properly no matter how intense the situation is. What would be the advantages/disadvantages? Discuss specific circumstances/influences/parameters that may

...Q.1. What sum of money will amount to Rs3704.40 in 3 years at 5% compound interest. Solution : We have, A = Rs3704.40, n = 3, r = 5%. Using A = P(1 + r/100)n , we get 3704.40 = P(1 + 5/100)3 => 370440/100 = P ×21/20×21/20×21/20 Or, P = 370440/100×20/21×20/21×20/21= 3200 Hence, required sum of money = Rs3200. [Ans.] Q.2. What sum of money will amount to Rs3630 in two years at 10% per annum compound interest? Solution : Do yourself [Ans. = Rs3,000] Q.3. Calculate the compound interest for the second year on Rs8,000 invested for 3 years at 10% p.a. Solution : Do yourself. [Ans. = Rs880.] Q.4. At what rate percent p.a. compound interest would Rs80000 amount to Rs88200 in two years, interest being compounded yearly. Also find the amount after 3 years at the above rate of compound interest. Solution : Principal = Rs80000, Amount = Rs88200, Time = 2 years, Rate = ? n = 2. Using, A = P (1 + r/100)n, we get 88200 = 80000 (1 + r/100)2 Or, (1 + r/100)2 = 88200/80000 = 441/400 Or, (1 + r/100) = 21/20 Or, r/100 = 21/20 – 1 = 1/20 Or, r = 1/20×100 = 5% Second part, P = Rs80000, Time = 3 years, n = 3, r = 5%. [Ans.] A = 80000(1 + 5/100)3 = 80000(21/20)(21/20)(21/20) = Rs92610. [Ans.] Q.5. Ramesh invests Rs. 12800 for three years at the rate of 10% per annum compound interest. Find : i. Persuasive Speech

...(Show video)- who would like to help these animals? So would I. My name is Lindsay, and I am going to talk to you about pet overpopulation. According to dogbreedinfo.com, only one out of ten dogs and one out of 12 cats will find a home. Meaning 800 dogs & cats are KILLED every HOUR. I have four dogs and two cats, all of which were adopted from a shelter or rescue. I want you, as my audience, to realize that by buying an animal from a breeder or pet store you are contributing to the pet overpopulation problem by creating demand for irresponsible breeding. By choosing to adopt, you will not only save a life, but you will also ensure that your adoption fee is going to help the next unwanted pet that comes in the door of that shelter. Another thing you can do to prevent over population is… Spay and Neuter your pets! By doing so you are ensuring that you do not become an “accidental breeder” American humane.org says that in many cases, these people will go on to become repeat offenders, engaging in a continuous cycle of irresponsible breeding or pet acquisition and disposal because they know they can easily find a new home for the animals. Some advantages: Spayed or neutered pets tend to live an average of 2-3 years longer than those that are unaltered. Spaying or neutering protects pets from some types of deadly cancers. It reduces the chance of pets running away or fighting. Dogs who have not been spayed or neutered may be three times more likely...

The tribe neglected Antara at first, and he grew up in servitude. Although it was fairly obvious that Shaddad was his father. Antara gained attention and respect for himself by his remarkable personal qualities and courage in battle, excelling as an accomplished poet and a mighty warrior. When the tribe needed his assistance to fend off another tribe in battle, Shaddād acknowledged Antara as his son, and granted him freedom. Antarah fell in love with his cousin Abla, and sought to marry her despite his status as a slave. But his uncle didn’t want antarah to marry abla so he asked antarah for a 1000 special kind of king alnoman camels as a dowry, and after the challenges he faced to get these 1000 camels his uncle refused to let him marry abla because he is not pure Arabian Antara's poetry is well preserved, and often talks of chivalry values, courage and heroism in battle, as well as his love for Abla. It was immortalized when one of his poems was included in the Hanged Poems. The poetry's historical and cultural importance stems from its detailed descriptions of battles, armour, weapons, horses, desert and other themes from his...

Reionization

...Cosmic Reionization Ultra-deep imaging with the Hubble Space Telescope has now uncovered galaxies within the first billion years of cosmic history. These galaxies represent some of the first objects ever formed, yet in terms of early galaxy formation they are only the tip of the iceberg. Most of the galaxies at this early epoch are too faint to study directly, even with Hubble. Galaxies, moreover, represent only a small fraction of all the matter in the Universe. Most of the matter instead resides in a vast network of dark matter and baryons known as the intergalactic medium (IGM). One of the primary aims of extragalactic astronomy is therefore to understand how galaxies form out of this network, and how galaxies, in turn, affect their environments. Of particular interest is how some of the very first galaxies took shape, and how they changed the properties of the large-scale IGM. One of the key features of the IGM in the present day Universe is that the gas is highly ionized. This would not always have been the case, however. After the Big Bang, the gas would have cooled and become neutral as the Universe expanded. Only after the first luminous sources appeared and began to emit ionizing photons would hydrogen in the IGM have been re-ionized. We believe that this process occurred within the first billion years, and represents one of the most dramatic impacts that early galaxies had on the properties of the baryons in deep space. In addition to direct searches for distant...

Cns Role

...AACN Statement of Support for Clinical Nurse Specialists The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is committed to advancing professional nursing roles and highlighting the connection between well-educated nurses and quality health care. As a leading supporter of academic institutions that educate advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), AACN is keenly aware of the direct link between graduate-prepared nurses and both patient safety and positive outcomes. Within the APRN community, Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) play a unique role in the delivery of high quality nursing care. These clinicians are experts in evidence-based nursing and practice in a range of specialty areas, such as oncology, pediatrics, geriatrics, psychiatric/mental health, adult health, acute/critical care, and community health among others. In addition to direct patient care, CNSs also engage in teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management and systems improvement. Able to adapt their practice across settings, these clinicians greatly influence outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems. AACN supports the full definition of the Clinical Nurse Specialist outlined in the American Nurses Association’s 2004 publication titled Nursing: Scope & Standards of Practice. (See Attachment A). Further, the growing body of research on CNS outcomes shows a strong correlation between CNS interventions and safe...

Medical and Diagnostic Biochemistry

...Medical and Diagnostic Biochemistry By Name Institution   Medical and Diagnostic Biochemistry Introduction Glucose also called a dextrose is a natural sugar present in honey and fruits and it belongs to a group of carbohydrates called monosaccharide’s and has a formula C6H12O6 .Glucose makes most of the sugar circulating in the blood of animals hence its other name blood sugar. Cells in the body get their energy from glucose; therefore it is important to regulate its metabolism in the human body. In the human body glucose is derived from the breakdown of carbohydrates ingested in the food we eat or the one stored in form of glycogen. It is also gotten from the synthesis of proteins. Excess glucose in the human body is converted into fats and glycogen and stored in the liver, muscles and adipose tissue. When the levels of glucose intake are not adequate to provide the energy needs breakdown of carbohydrates stores occurs in order to form glucose (Encyclopedia). Blood sugar measurements are done to determine glucose levels in human body and are carried out in hospitals and chemistry heath care laboratories. Diabetes mellitus is the most common disorder for carbohydrate metabolism and it is as a result of high levels of blood sugar in the body (Encyclopedia). A metabolic disorder characterized by high levels of blood is called diabetes mellitus. The high level of blood sugar is as a result of production of insufficient insulin produced by the pancreas since insulin reduces...

Policing Functions

...Policing Functions Policing Functions Policing functions are learning from experience, these functions follow current policing functions as well as those from the past. Policing functions at any level, whether it is local, state, or federal can be difficult at times because each level was made by someone or a few individuals carrying out their own ideas and responding to the circumstances that were present at that time. The way the police agencies are functioning now still needs improvement, but it has improved from the way they were functioning in the past. “Law enforcement in the United States is a large and extremely complex enterprise. There are almost 18,000 federal, state, and local agencies, along with a private security industry that employs over a million additional people” (Walker & Katz, 2008). Policing agencies implement many functions in order to protect society. Law enforcement agencies are responsible for maintaining the peace, preventing crime, and to provide the public with a service. These agencies are split up into local, state, and federal levels. These levels can work together, but they mainly work independently from the each other. Even though they may work together, each level has its very own set of responsibilities, techniques, and guidelines. Before society can understand how policing function has changed, society needs to understand what policing function means and how police functions came about. Police functions were identified by Goldstein...

Types of Forecasts * Economic forecasts * Predict a variety of economic indicators, like money supply, inflation rates, interest rates, etc. * Technological forecasts * Predict rates of technological progress and innovation. * Demand forecasts * Predict the future demand for a company’s products or services. Since virtually all the operations management decisions (in both the strategic category and the tactical category) require as input a good estimate of future demand, this is the type of forecasting that is emphasized in our textbook and in this course. TYPES OF FORECASTING METHODS Qualitative methods: These types of forecasting methods are based on judgments, opinions, intuition, emotions, or personal experiences and are subjective in nature. Motivation

...Employee Motivation Angelie Johnson ABS 415 Instructor Mark Bova November 17, 2014 Employee Motivation In this paper I will be discussing Wal-Mart and Southwest Airlines motivation for their employees. As you see in this paper the companies have implemented successful motivational plans but do not involve monetary reward/compensation for the employees. It is important for the companies to have more pros than cons to represent a great staff and to run a successful business. When you are fully motivated and productive you will have more people to feel the need to stay and work with your business for a long time. Since the relationship with the employee and the manger is the most important factor influencing engagement, the responsibility will fall on the management or leader to improve the motivational levels of his/her employees. Employee motivation is needed in all companies in order to have a successful business. Wal-Mart is a company that has been around for a very long time. This company has many employees around the United States. You cannot go any where with out seeing a Wal-Mart in some town. Motivation is alive through all levels of positions at Wal-Mart. Case Analysis: Sycamore Pharmaceuticals

...Case Analysis: Sycamore Pharmaceuticals ABS 415: Leadership & Ethics in a Changing World May 25, 2012 John Blake and Cole Dominguez are both employed at Sycamore Pharmaceuticals. This case study is about the company manipulating scientific studies to say that the popular drug Osteoporin which is also used for rheumatoid arthritis was supposed to help the treatment of Crohn’s disease and lupus, but the scientific findings came back negative in helping with those two diseases. John Blake seems to be a sincere man and was truly feeling bad for not reporting the findings to anyone and keeping his mouth shut. He was nervous, upset and showing that he was remorseful for taking part in this situation. Cole Dominguez was the complete opposite of those qualities. He was more concerned with losing his next month’s quarterly bonus than feeling bad for the situation at hand. Each man had different views and attitudes towards how they were going to handle the scandal. Dominguez was going to stand by the manager no matter what in fear of losing his job in his defense he said he was only following orders. That may be true, but he showed no remorse or compassion for the patients that were affected by this situation. His philosophy was along as he did was he was told by the manager he would be not held responsible. This showed his lack of personal ethical values. He is just as guilty as the manager of concealing this information. He felt that when...
