I. what is study habits?

-Being successful in school requires a high level of study skills. Students must first learn these skills, practice them and develop effective study habits in order to be successful.
II. What are the ways to improve Study habits?
A. Daily reviews:
-Study begins on the first day of class. Successful students read and reviewnotes before each class to recall information from the previous class and to warm up for learning. Review your notes immediately after each class to reinforce learning or within a 24-hour period for best recall. Repeated exposure to the material will store it in your long-term memory. Studying one hour immediately after a class will do more good in developing an understanding of the material as several hours a few days later. Studies show that as much as 80 % of material learned in class is forgotten within 24 hours if there is no review.

B. Weekly reviews:
-At the end of the week go over your notes for the week. This refreshes your memory and promotes better recall of the material. Repetition is the key to remembering. The more times you look at the material, the stronger you make the neural (brain) pathways that lead to the material. This makes recall much easier.
C. Pre-exam reviews:
-These reviews are longer, from 3 - 5 hours. Break your study sessions into one-hour blocks with ten-minute breaks in between. Get up, stretch, get a drink, and move around during your break. The more active you are, the more effective your study time will be. A

...declining quality, relevance and accessibility of education, the very basic rights of the Filipino youth. Many problems are mentioned except the problem regarding the attitudes of the students toward their academic performance. There is a usual observation and protest of the secondary school teachers regarding the products of the elementary level of education or the foundation of their learning. They said that the pupils do not know how to study on their own initiative. Some cannot work out their assignments; others cannot take part actively in the class recitation, and others do not know the art of note taking. There have been many instances which showed that majority of the students display inability to discriminate between relevant and irrelevant information they got from their references. Quite a number of students simply pick up the words from the pages of the books or printed materials while comprehending the meaning of it. These and many others are results of poor method of study habits. Thus, developing the youth requires early training in the schools. According to Covey (1989), “To focus on technique is like cramming your way through school. You sometimes get by, perhaps even get good grades, but if you don’t pay the price day in and day out, you’ll never achieve true mastery of the subjects you study or develop an educated mind.” It is said that aside from...

...CHAPTER 1 RESEARCH PROBLEM This chapter presents the Introduction of the study, Background of the study, Statement of the problem, Significance of the study and the Scope and Delimitations of the study. A. Introduction Study habit is the pattern of behavior adopted by students in the pursuit of their studies that serves as the vehicle of learning. It is the degree to which the student engages in regular acts of studying that are characterized by appropriate studying routines (e.g. reviews of material, frequency of studying sessions, etc.) occurring in an environment that is conducive to studying. No one can fully understand how a student feels every time she got low scores for her tests and examinations. No one can explain why they are neglecting their studies and ignoring the importance of education. No one can interpret their actions beside the people, who are once a student, preferably the students with their same stage. Student’s experiences within the classroom help to develop their behavioral, social, and academic skills. The quality of the interactions that students have with their teachers predicts later academic success (Pianta, Steinberg, & Rollins, 1995). The extent of student’s learning in academics may be determined by the grades a student earns for a period of learning has been done. It is believed that a grade is a primary indicator of such learning. If a learner earns high grades it is concluded that they may also have learned a lot while low...
