The Rspca and the Use of Social Media for Public Relations Purposes

...The use of Social Media channels for public relations purposes has become increasingly popular in recent years; organisations use a variety of channels in order to effectively communicate with their publics. The NSW RSPCA demonstrates how a not-for-profit organisation can utilise several social media channels to successfully enhance and maintain their reputation as well as relating with their publics. The methods in which the NSW RSPCA uses social media to connect with their publics can be correlated with several public relations theories; Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, two of Grunig’s four Public Relations models – Public Information and Two-Way Symmetrical models, the Diffusion of Innovation Theory and the Social Learning Theory are just a few of the theories that can be applied to the use of social media for Public Relations purposes by the NSW RSPCA. The NSW Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) was founded in Sydney in 1873. The organisation receives less than 2% funding from the government, therefore relying on donations and fundraisers to effectively maintain their 40 shelters (RSPCA NSW, nd). The RSPCA have embraced the new age technology of social media, and combine their integral website with several social media channels (digitalbusiness.gov.au, 2012 [3]), the most popular of which being Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, which as of July 2013 the organisation had over 54, 000 ‘likes’ on Facebook (RSPCA NSW Facebook, nd), over 6, 000 ‘followers’...

The Twin Paradox for Dummies

...Everything is relative or objective Nothing is really as it seems to us and all things are subjective to the observer. Everything is relative to each person from the viewpoint. Comparative readings, of two almost unimaginably accurate precision atomic clocks located on fast moving spacecraft and airplanes and on earth, have detected this strange skewing of time and proved Einstein's theory of relativity to be fact. Stop all the clocks in the universe and movement will continue unaffected. Stop all movement and the illusion we call time will stop and nothing ever happen again. As an object approached the speed of light it becomes more and compressed (It occupies less and less space), distorts the fabric of space time and time slows on the speeding object when compared to an object stationary state, it left at its source. Let the Object equate to a spaceship if you like. Time is much like an elastic string which can only be stretched in one direction namely; into the future. The twin paradox describes what happens. Twins; One boards a spacecraft that accelerates to near light speed, on say a voyage to Alpha Centauri, some four light years from earth. The other remains on the home planet. Ten years later the bother who went to Alpha Centauri returns having aged only "one subjective year" because time has moved slower for him, "relative" to his brother who remained on the home planet, where time moved at the "normal rate" Why and...

...accelerated the corruptive situation. When in the 2003 the first announcement of accounting irregularities appeared, it disclosed the frauds of previous years. That made a hint to so many lawsuits and litigations that even after establishing “Road to Recovery” strategy, company remains to be not trust worthy. The most important ethical issue that can be seen during the whole processes of litigations, that no one connected with irregular accounting admitted his fault in the case. Plagiarism and Paraphrasing

...Plagiarism and Paraphrasing Rebecca Beck Walden University Plagiarism and Paraphrasing According to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, to “plagiarize” is “to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own, to use (another's production) without crediting the source, to commit literary theft, to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source” (p. 946) and to “paraphrase” is “a restatement of a text, passage, or work giving the meaning in another form, the use or process of paraphrasing in studying or teaching composition” (p. 899). One can write in a scholarly voice while maintaining academic integrity through conscientious and meticulous efforts. Effective paraphrasing, proper citation of sources, and citation of one’s self are three ways students can insure their academic integrity. Paraphrasing isn’t simply changing a few words in the information you are trying to convey. To paraphrase effectively, one must restate the information in such a way that it is in your own words. Sometimes, you may have to borrow words or phrases because the author worded them in such a way that you can’t really convey the message without using them. It is okay to do this as long as you give proper credit to the author and their work. Using quotation marks will show that you took that information directly from the original piece of work, and properly citing the information will give credibility to your writing while giving credit...

Disillusionment in the Stranger

...In Albert Camus' The Stranger the Meursault is clearly disillusioned of life and two examples of this disillusionment occurred in the instances of his mother's death and an offer to be transferred to another work environment. The novel The Stranger by Albert Camus portrays how Meursault is disillusioned about things that seem to be the most normal basic human concepts of understanding such as his mothers death. With his mother's death, he seemed indifferent at the loss of her life in every way possible. He was so uninterested in her funeral that he remarked the following: "...I can be there for the vigil and come back tomorrow night" (Camus 3). His mother appeared to slow him down. As if he felt he had better things to do. He claimed he never went to visit her in the nursing home because she enjoyed it too much. Nonetheless, he admitted, that the visit "took up my Sunday -- not to mention the trouble of getting to the bus, buying tickets, and spending two hours traveling" (Camus 5). This shows the true lack of care in his mothers death. To further define his insensitivity, Meursault shed not even one tear in this part of the novel; moreover, he expressed no form of sorrow whatsoever. Secondly, Meursault's attitude and reaction toward an offer to be relocated to a Parisian location was a monumental indicator of his insensitivity. One would expect him to accept or decline the offer graciously and respectfully. Meursault proved, again, to be unpredictable when he states, in...

Personality Paper

...Social-Learning theory has most influenced my beliefs and assumptions about individuals. Social-learning theory main concept is the idea that behavior learned through watching others. This term is coined observational learning. Social-Learning theory, in contrast to Behavioral theorist , do not believe that reinforcement is responsible for all learning. In fact Social learning theorist Albert Bandura extended research which not included social learning but also included behavioral and cognitive learning to be incorporated. This was the main reason to which some refer to social learning theory as social-cognitive theory. Social- Learning Theory also assume an individual's behavior, environment and personal qualities influence one another. Social-Learning theory believe that optimal observational learning can be acquired through three model. One of which is live model, in live model an actual person is demonstrating the behavior. The next model is verbal instruction. In this model the individual is instructed in detail the behavior and how to engage in that behavioral. The last model is symbolic, influences in this model includes television, radio, movies, internet, literature etc. As well in the model fictional or real demonstration of the behavior. As well Bandura believed that there are steps in which modeling process involved. The first step is Attention. In Attention one must pay attention to the behavior that is being modeled in order to learn. The second step is Retention...

He has become too confident because of his long years in service. He is known in Canalven as a “Career Man” and energetic and proud of his job. His pride is shown in the yellow inscription bearing his name in the machines he designed. However, he is disliked by many workers because of being full time grumbler. He shows insubordination with his superior, Stone, by ignoring his instructions as in the case of the furnace incident. Moreover, Alvarez is influencing other workers to follow his orders instead of Stone. Stone believed that other workers don’t trust him because Alvarez is demoralizing them and brought the issue to the higher management. This case will be analysed and dealt with the point of view of the Assistant Plant Manager, Pinto, as he will be responsible in the course of action to take on the Alvarez case. Analysis: Stone and Alvarez are having problems from the beginning. Alvarez would not accept Stone’s authority because he believed that Stone do not know anything about machines and are changing “things” that had worked for years. Stone do not like the yellow inscriptions that Alvarez is printing on the equipment as he believed that these are company’s assets. He is also having problem with Alvarez’ insubordination and the other workers lack of trust in him. Listed below are the observed behaviour/...

“Existentialism”

...What is Existentialism? , Existentialism is a way of life, for example some people who live a life of an extensialist don’t care about anything or anyone. They take each day as it comes. They don’t worry about anything and act like their okay when they really aren’t. In the movie “The Dark Night” by Christopher Nolan’s and the book “The Stranger” by Albert Camus gives great examples of people who live the life of extensialist. Living an extensialist life comes with many consequences. Good or bad it doesn’t really matter. “I guess the joker is as crazy as they say” (Nolan). In the movie the Dark Night a man who works for the joker says how the joker is actually crazy like everyone says. Now in the story the stranger Mersault is crazy when he doesn’t cry or grief because his mother has passed away. They look at both of these characters as crazy. But are they actually crazy? Or are they crazy because society says they are? In a society many people see who is crazy who is not, but in these both stories they really aren’t, the joker just does things as they come and people are the ones who actually cause the crazy ness he just takes the blame for it, well that’s how I see it. In the book Mersault doesn’t cry for his mother’s death because he says they never really had any relationship at all. Society says he’s a jerk and he’s heartless for not doing so but he’s an estensialist and they really don’t show emotions at all. An extensialist does things as they come, they don’t plan...
