By the turn of the 20th century, labor unions did destroyed the free market by encumbering businesses with regulations essentially penalizing the wealthy for being successful because mostly everyone in America was affected. The workplace begun to change over the years that many of the people were leaving the country. Many unskilled workers became a group and had to work together. The people had to face many difficult working conditions, such as low pay and more working hours.
As people were being forced into working for more hours, Albert Parsons, a peaceful man started a strike where he wanted the congress to pass the eight-hour law. Companies think this is fair for the people because the companies have wasted tons of money on the machines that the people use to work. They think it is fair for the people to take away some of the saving that they earned to pay off the machines that these companies are buying. All in all Albert Parsons wanted to pass the eight-hour law because the people were forced to work more than eight-hours a day, and get payed even more less than the minimum wage.
