What would happen if school was going all year? Some people think it would be better if school went all year long and it is up for debate. School going all year long is better than going for parts of the year because students wouldn’t “lose” their knowledge,it would be better on the teacher, and there would be more breaks. Everyone has felt the feeling of summer ending and going back to school. The first day of school a student might feel like they forgot all the knowledge they got from the previous school year. If there was year round school then they wouldn’t have that feeling. They will be more likely to remember what they learned from a past school year and use the information to their advantage. The students will do better on the tests because they know the information. The students need the first few weeks of school to even begin to take in knowledge. They went from playing in the sun to sitting at a desk for hours. Those first few weeks of school would have been wasted because they are not as focused. That is wasted time for both student and teacher. Teachers put a lot of work into each lesson they prepare for their students. Some students …show more content…
If the school year was lengthened to all year then there would be longer winter and spring breaks. Weekends are beginning to feel like no time off at all. Having the longer breaks throughout the school year gives the drained teachers and students a big wake up so they come back refreshed and ready to give and receive knowledge. The breaks would be just long enough so that they feel long, but still short enough that the students do not get out of the schedule of school. Summer break would still be the longest, yet still shorter than before. Many people think summer is the best break because it is the longest and is a time of relaxation however having the longer breaks throughout the school year are a pickmeup in the school year that many students

...listed and reviewed facts and see how one of these theories is superior to the others or that all three are comparable or equal. The thesis for this essay is “No matter how careful evolution, structuralism, and functionalism are examined, there is no evidence that these will not change in the future” Psychology Perspectives Structuralism, Functionalism, and Evolutionary theories each have similarities and differences among them. Both Structuralism and functionalism reflect the fact that consciousness is the subject matter, but both differ in how each should be studied. Evolutionary theory has potential to integrate conceptual approaches to study behavioral development for human adaption in both humans and animals which Structuralism and Functionalism stem form. Structuralism has many mental processes that are broken down into basic components. Functionalism forms a reaction to Structuralism which focuses on the purpose of both consciousness and behavior and emphasizes individual differences. Influenced by Darwin’s evolutionary theory, William James, John Dewey, James Rowland Angell, and Harvey A. Carr, all led a movement to determine what consciousness was and put it into its basic elements such as the study of sensations, feelings, and images. After one of Wilhelm Wundt’s students, E.B. Titchener advocated Structuralism in the United States. However, competition from an opposing school of thought called...

Social Policy

...Essay 1 Our nation pursues the ideal that what we look like or where we come from should not determine the benefits or burdens that we bear in our society. Unfortunately, for African Americans, one of the largest minority groups within the United States, this is not a reality. In fact, life has been altered from the moment their lives began as an individual of color. Today, many people tend to remember the victories of African Americans that include abolition of slavery, desegregation, the civil rights movement, and the right to vote before women. People tend to forget the centuries of ugly racism, oppression and violence. The times of slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynching and segregation along with the hardship of having no political voice. Many disregard that for every social policy throughout history with what appeared to be an open door, just became another obstacle for Blacks and step up for Whites. Social policies and government programs have neglected and shortchanged African Americans for decades. Today, African Americans continue to face economic, social and health disparities within society when compared to its white counterparts. African Americans are struggling with unemployment and poverty. According to Fletcher (2013) in 2012, the black unemployment rate was 14.0 percent, 2.1 times the white unemployment rate (6.6 percent). This rate is higher than the average national unemployment rate of 13.1 percent. For those African Americans who are employed, many are unable...

Subtopics could be like various forms of it, long term effects on the victim, punishments and sentences, and then you could round off with the fact that paedophiles can sometimes get less of a sentence than those who steal bread to eat. what a system we have. 2. Exclusive pedophiles are attracted only to children. Non-exclusive pedophiles are attracted to children and adults. Child-oriented pedophiles actually care about the children. Self-oriented pedophiles simply use the children for sexual gratification. You might want to cover the consequences of childhood sexual trauma, not least of which is dissociative identity disorder (D. I. D.), formerly known as multiple personality disorder (M. P. D.). 3. That sounds like an interesting paper. I would probably focus less on causes and more on treatment for pedophilia. Because the causes are arguable (although I just read about a study that came out last week saying there is a genetic component to pedophilia), I think focusing on the treatment and healing process for pedophiles and sex offenders is much more interesting. We already know many environmental factors that contribute to adults "becoming" pedophiles, such as prior sexual abuse as a child, certain mental illnesses (attachment disorders and personality disorders), and other history of abuse. Classroom English and Employability Skills: an Insight

...Engineering College, Vellore. Co-Author: S. Shirly Christina, Assistant Professor, Kingston Engineering College, Vellore. Abstract: Teaching English to students both at higher secondary level and at collegiate level requires a lot of planning and the ability to execute the plan. Language learning involves improvement in all 4 skills involved: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW Skills) as well as language areas: vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. But are all these 4 elements being visited upon in our classrooms? This paper aims at looking at the kind of English that is taught/learnt in our traditional classrooms in schools and colleges across India and how it relates to boosting the employability quotient in an individual. Keywords: LSRW, employability, communication, language learning. Introduction: Down the ages English gained popularity through commerce as there was a time when the sun never set on the British Empire – thanks to their conquests - and their colonies spread from one end of the Earth to the other end. Though English is a foreign language it has been taught in India for decades and as we are all well aware it is an associate official language. All our government documents exist in English as well as Hindi. "I would have English as an associate, additional language, which can be used not because of facilities, but because I do not wish the people of non-Hindi areas to feel that certain doors of advance are closed to them. So I would have it as an alternative...

...Underground Essay Jason Peter is a player that the University of Nebraska should be proud of. Jason Peter was a great athlete for them and, he showed his perseverance to break his drug addiction. For these things why would Nebraska not be proud of Jason? Jason Peter deserves the respect and acknowledgement from Nebraska. A main reason they should be proud of Jason is, because he is an outstanding athlete and contributed too many wins at Nebraska .Any person that helps win football games has to be respected. According the Kirk Herbstreit, “the Huskers are aiming for their third national title in four years, thanks to--as usual--a high-level option offense (keyed by Scott Frost) and a stout defensive front four (led by end Grant Wistrom and tackle Jason Peter)” (Herbstreit 21). This shows that Jason was a large part of the Nebraska defense; even rough Jason’s rough times they should still be proud of him. Also in the book it shows that he was respected “with us as captains we can’t lose” (Peter 55). This show that coach Osborne felt like he trusted and respected Jason in that he let him be a captain. Usually the school is proud of the captain of the team, because he is the leader and shows good examples. In this case Jason shows good behavior at Nebraska, which keeps a good word with the university. Jason should not be judged by what happened to him, because it can happen to anyone. Also they should be proud of Jason because, he made it to the NFL; he added another first round draft...
