Amazing Experience
Shawn 2013/7/10

Have you ever tried to travel by yourself? especially the country that you have never been to before. I had an amazing experience when I traveled to another country. I can't forget it because that time I almost became homeless.

It happened when I made a plan to visit Portland, Oregon. I was twenty one years old and it was my first time to visit another country by myself. At first, everything was good, but almost two hours before I took my airplane, someone called me and told me that my flight would be delayed one hour, so I didn't have to be at airport on time. I didn't care about that but I had a serious problem which was I had to change my planes on Tokyo. It meant I didn't have enough time to transfer. Therefore, I missed my flight to Portland.

I was so scared. I didn't know how I can do at that time and I just stood at the Tokyo airport and saw my flight leaving. But I understood that I couldn't just stand there and not do anything. I started to ask some people and I wanted to get some answers from them. Luckily, I met a person who could give me a hand and she could speak Chinese.

She was working at the airplane company which I took. After I explained my situation to her, she told me that it was their fault so her company could help me to do everything such as booking the hotel and airplane ticket for free. I really appreciated this woman, if I didn't meet her, maybe I couldn't go back to my country or go to Portland safely.

Until now, I still have kept in touch with that woman. She has become one of my favorite friends. If I didn't have this experience, I couldn't have a friend who was working on airport. So I think that was my special travel amazing experience.

An Amazing Experience

...hoping nothing bad will happen to me. The first day in Singapore was the usual boring activities which my mom and two sisters defined as fun. For five hours, I had to tag along and give opinions on clothing and jewelry they tried on. Other than looking at the tons and tons of pretty women wearing very little clothes, there was about nothing else that I could do. As we were about to walk back to our hotel, I noticed a colorful poster which said “ A real life experience for the whole family”. The poster was actually talking about the national zoo. I’ve heard quite a lot about the Singapore national zoo from my English teacher. I remember hearing her say that going to the zoo can be a very interesting experience. I asked my parents to take us to the zoo the next day and they only agreed when I told them that my English teacher said it might be an interesting experience. I was excited, the next day I wouldn’t have to tag along and give opinions anymore. The next morning, we woke up early eager to experience the amazing creations of God. Lucky for us, that day happened to be a weekday so there wasn’t too many people at the zoo. The first few animals we passed by were kind of boring as all they were doing was sleeping and lazing around. I wanted to see some action, like the animals doing tricks, fighting, or feeding on their preys. As we...

Analysis of Leaders in Innovation

...Yasir Adesanya Unit 5 Assignment 1 May 14, 2016 It was a really good experience working with my peers and having them review my assignments. It’s something I use to have issues with few years ago. I am someone who typically hates criticism, I believe my ways is the best way. However, I have grown and realized there’s nothing wrong having other people review my work, notes, assignment and providing genuine and necessary feedback. In addition, it was great reviewing other’s assignment and providing needed and necessary feedback in return. It was fun at the same time having to look at my peer assignment on a professional level. I interacted with them via the discussion board and email. Initially, it was a little bit awkward but after a while I got over it as I do that at work already where I review my colleagues report blindly. The only difference was that I have seen my colleagues before compare to here where you have absolutely no idea who they are except from the brief introduction from the first day of class I read about them. I had great interactions with them where they told me amazing stories about the chosen companies and I did the same in return about Naira bakery in Brooklyn, what prompted my in law to start the company. Overall, this class has been a great experience for me in the end. Personally, working with my classmates on those assignment, chatting back and forth, and working with ideas, brainstorming, helping arrange my notes was superb...

My Reading Response to Amazing Grace

...My Reading Response to Amazing Grace Jacqueline Stephens My Reading Response to Amazing Grace The poem I have chosen to respond to is Amazing Grace by John Newton. Giving birth to a child creates a strong bond between a mother and daughter, the emotional bond created between my granddaughter and myself is due to the fact, I had custody of her for the first two and half years of her life and I sang Amazing Grace to her every night before bedtime. She weighted a pound and six ounces when she was born, by the Grace of God she is a thriving six year old. This gives reason for her name, Nevaeh Lee, her first name backwards with her middle name, Heaven Lee. This poem touches my heart on a level no song has ever done. It was a way we spent our special time together. I can feel her little body lying on my chest with her hand clutching my shirt collar. This is the “Intensity of Emotion” (Section 13.4) I feel when I think of those times and wish by some miracle I could experience them again. I can hear her mom calling me on the phone when she had visitation at her at bedtime, asking me, “What does Nevaeh want”. I asked her what is she saying, she replied “mazing”, my heart broke. I told her she needed to be sung Amazing Grace to go to sleep. I feel the tears now. I started singing this to her when she was six months old. That is when she was able to come home from the hospital. I think I sang this to her until she was three and there are times...

What specifically do you hope to gain personally from experiencing life in another culture? 2. Personally, I plan on gaining a lot from experiencing life in another culture. I am excited to see how their community works as a whole in comparison to how Americans live. The United States' culture, values, and beliefs are not like any other country. We live a totally different lifestyle than most people all over the world; and I would like to experience it firsthand. To be able to live on another continent, in another country, living another culture-it will expose me to a new environment with new traditions. While I'm there, all I can do is learn, taking in every new experience, and realize there is more to living than the way I was taught in America. Change Theory

...become independent and no longer dependent upon my parents. I learned how to live on my own, when my babies were sick I had to learn how to care for them, work a job, get them to a sitter etc. This was a change that I experienced but however, it has made me stronger and the woman I am today. I also went through stages of change where i felt I could not care for my children because I was being evicted from my apartments, no transportation, and losing jobs every month due to my attendance. I went through a change of depending on men who I thought were the world to me and always left me. The final change took place when I got tired and got saved. I grew up in the church all of my life and as an adult; I wanted to live the party life. It is amazing how even in our "mess" God is still there with us even when we stray. We may leave him but he never leaves us. When I got saved, my life changed and has never been the same. I am now stable, my twins are 14 and they are respectful young men of God. I have been blessed with stable employment, nice transportation and I know to depend on God and not man!!! I still have bumps in the road and we all do but his grace and mercy is given to us...

Death Scenario

...is the end. In those final agonizing moments knowing that this is the end, how would you handle those final moments and how would you feel about your life up to this point. In reading the scenario the first emotion that hit me was that of anxiety. I was not necessarily feeling anxiety about the fact that I would inevitably die in the situation but anxiety about what my family would feel with my dying. It made me feel sorrowful. I imagine the things that my loved ones would experience after this type of scenario and also the things that I would not be present for in their future lives. I would want my husband to mourn my loss but I would also want him to be able to move on and enjoy the rest of his days and I would want him to be strong and I am hopeful that if this type of scenario, or any other in which I were not to survive for that matter, that he would be strong. I would want him to be strong for himself and for our children, they would need him to show them how to move past this type of experience and enjoy their lives to the fullest. India

...time to reflect on the trip, I have to say that it was amazing and I experienced things I will never forget. Throughout everything we did and saw, the one thing that surprised me the most was how great the people of India were. I never know what to expect going to a totally different culture, but I have to say the kindness we experienced from people in India was amazing. People were always willing to help us any way that they could. Whether it was the hotel employees, the bus crew, restaurant staff, bystanders on the street, or even those living in absolute poverty, the people of India were always smiling at us and wanting to know where we were from. Most people would think that they were always looking for a rupee or two, but that was not the case. They were genuinely glad that we were in their country and wanted to make sure that we had the best experience possible. It was inspiring and amazing and I think we could all learn of a lot from them. India was an eye-opening experience and it absolutely gave me an appreciation for how fortunate I am and it really put life into perspective. It made me realize what’s important and what I really value in life. There were times when I found myself frustrated, dirty, exhausted and ready to throw in the towel, but then I would turn a corner and spot something spectacular or come across a child with a smile on their face and I would remember how fortunate I was to experience such a unique place. India is a beautiful place filled...

Goals

...for as long as I can remember is to go into the social services. I volunteer in social services, and I have had 2 jobs requiring a bachelors without having an associates. I love being in the social services, empowering people to advocate for themselves is my forte`. I have run across many former clients, that expressed I am doing the community a dis-service by not working in the field. Then again when time permits I go to homeless meal sites and see what’s up, and if anyone could use some assistance accessing services. The goal I have always wanted for as long as I can remember is to pursue higher education. My associates is taking me 10 years, because life got in the way. In addition I was busy raising kids. As I have added more life experiences it became clear major goals should be geared towards getting into Social Services. I kept a goal list visible; as the years went on. To keep my dream close, and my goals in perspective, I volunteered at any agency in the field. I am interested in taking assessments and exploring my goals. In career workshops, and here in college I took the Jung Typology Assessment. The results came out ENFP (Extraversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Perceiving). This test is compatible with my career choice working in the social services. I get my energy, and become emotionally recharged by being with people. I value compassion, empathy, and understanding. My Philosophy

...in victory. I am also Carla - a 17 year old experiencing life through dark brown eyes. No matter how exceptional, amazing and unique I’d like to think I am, who I am is really a reflection of many other things put together. Numerous parts of different jigsaw puzzles pieced together to form a new picture. Vital pieces of whose absence would have made another person, not the one I am. I always say I’m different. Never quite what people expect on a first impression. Friends have categorized me as a pessimist, a naturalistic thinker, a boring, little, nerdy person until we became friends and they realized I had a few screws loose in my head and then found themselves laughing at my jokes and mostly moronic and offending ideas. I believe our experiences in life whether good or bad are what help define who we are. We cannot experience what we are until we encounter what we are not. It is through what we are not that we can be defined. The theory of relativity sustains my beliefs as to know ourselves is not to overcome all earthly passions but to understand them and understand what defines who we are. My experiences and beliefs arise from the relationships I have experienced in both Brazil and Australia, the relationships with my family, friends and people I have met. I learnt that relationships are constantly challenging, calling for us to express ourselves and experience with these people the different aspects that we reveal of ourselves. We can never...
