Amazon’s Changing?

Week Two Assignment.

Amazon is the largest online retailer out there (page 26). That being said there are many different things that are happening within the company which is causing it to want to branch out to make a bit more money. This change is becoming a need because of other sites and their ease of use. So now the popular retail site is using different ideas to get more revenue, even if only a little bit. There is also a good connection between data, information, and knowledge in this case study I hope to cover them with this paper. After spending around $2 billion working on their infrastructure they have the biggest and most reliable one in the world (page 26). There is a catch however they are only using about 10% of this at any point. So they decided to branch out to offer three different services that they can then charge as they go. Those three are the Simple Storage Service or S3, the Elastic Cloud or EC2, and the Mechanical Turks. Amazon charges 15 cents a gigabyte per month for organizations to store data and different applications on disk drives. The EC2 will run about ten cents an hour for the basic server, and is used for extra processing power. The final of the three is the Mechanical Turk. This is a service that combines power with networks of real people who are paid to do the kinds of work that machines do not do. These are just some different parts of Amazon’s database. With all this is shows that they have the knowledge to control the different data that will be coming in and out of their systems. It also shows that they have the means to have people to run the Turks. This would be a good sign that this is a step in the right direction. However in my opinion, without knowing how well it will affect the bottom line it would be a silly risk till reading a bit more. There are several people using it and even if it
