Executive Summary
Dear Stakeholders,
We are experiencing great challenges within our organization to find individuals who first and foremost possess the basic leadership qualities to step-up and lead. This report has been developed to take a look into several leadership styles that can affect our organizational culture in a positive way. Until an effective leadership style is implemented our organization will continue to suffer with finding and retaining officers who are not only qualified and have the ability to lead effectively, but who also want to lead because they believe in our organization and want to see the organization grow and succeed; which in turn means they will succeed. One of the main topics of discussion in our board meetings is the fact that lower management have exhibited a leadership approach or lack thereof that is conducive of running and maintaining a successful workforce; our business relies on our contract officers providing a quality service to our clients. This is a prime example of why our organization is in dire need of adopting a leadership style that will affect our organizational culture in a positive way.
Our officers have expressed through their union delegates that they don’t agree with the methods being used by current management, officers have expressed concerns that their immediate supervision doesn’t lead by example. There are too many small individualized groups who work by their own rules but enforce separate rules on those outside of their group. We must establish a uniformed approach when it comes to management style that will create a culture within our organization that can build pride, honor, trust, loyalty, discipline and respect amongst our officers.

Cargills

...Sri Lanka | Diversified Holdings Initiation of coverage EQUITY RESEARCH 5 September 2013 CT Holdings PLC (CTHR) Cashing in on consumption growth CT Holdings (CTHR) is the fourth-largest Sri Lankan diversified company by market capitalization. The company holds controlling interests in Cargills (CSE ticker: CARG, CTHR’s 70%-owned food retail company), the country’s largest chain of supermarkets, as well as in several companies in the food processing, restaurant, real estate, entertainment and financial services sectors. We expect CTHR’s revenues from continuing operations to post an 11.1% CAGR over FY14E-FY16E and net margin to expand 40bps to 2.3% by FY16E. Rising disposable income should continue to boost consumer demand and benefit Sri Lanka’s modern food retail market, driving CTHR’s retail and wholesale distribution segment (84% of revenue in FY13) at an 8.8% CAGR over FY14EFY16E. We expect margins to benefit from higher food sales and economies of scale in food processing. However, high finance costs resulting from CTHR’s recent spate of acquisitions may pressure earnings. We arrive at a valuation range of LKR126-153 for CTHR, compared with the current share price of LKR140, as at 4 September 2013. Sri Lanka’s organized food retail penetration grew to 15% in 2012 from 10% in 2004. This growth was supported by rising disposable income (12.6% CAGR over 2010-2012) and a slowly increasing preference for shopping at modern retail outlets. However, penetration remains lower...

Training and Retention - Research Paper

...Training and Retention Mary F. Chapman University of Maryland University College AMBA 600 Executive Summary I work in the new homebuilding industry - an industry that has a fair bit of turnover amongst its’ sales teams. While sales representatives typically remain in home sales for their professional careers, they often switch between builders, and even out of the industry to general brokerage at some point in their career. As a 10+ year seasoned sales representative, I have seen far too many quality representatives leave my company to start over with another builder, or other industries altogether. It truly is a shame, as many of these representatives would have generated an incredible amount of income for themselves, as well as profit for the builder, had they given themselves the proper opportunity. I am proposing that proper training and sales management involvement could single-handedly improve retention amongst the sales team. In this paper I intend to explore the costs associated with employee turnover, the role of middle management during the selection process and thereafter throughout training, as well as training procedures and policies that could be implemented to help lessen turnover. Lastly, I intend to explore how my company will improve as a result of higher retention of its’ sales professionals. Retention of sales professionals has become one of the most taxing issues facing sales managers of today, particularly due to the costs associated with...

Jackson University of Maryland University College AMBA 600 - 9046 May 6th, 2014 Professor Susan Malone The Impact of Convenience Fees 2 Executive Summary This research study examines the use of convenience fees and how they have impacted whether or not public sector enterprises accept electronic payments. As budgets continue to shrink for U.S. government agencies, many local, state, and federal officials are struggling to provide services their citizens have grown accustom to in business environments. Convenience fee based electronic payment programs provided by many governments enable citizens to pay for obligations such as taxes, utility bills, and court costs through secure websites, interactive voice response (IVR), and even mobile payment capabilities...
