Mrs. Bomer did exactly what Fountas & Pinnell suggested on how to get the most from an interactive read-aloud. “Planned, with books selected and often sequenced for particular purposes. Prepared for, with some learning opportunities identified before reading but leaving room for surprises and spontaneous discussion, active, eliciting response from students and connected across instructional contexts” (Fountas and Pinnell p. 220). In the video we saw the first three things clearly demonstrated.
