“Uncoiling,” by Pat Mora is a poem that portrays figurative language. I chose this poem because of the clear connection with personification and imagery through figurative language. This type of language is a system an author uses to convey a story or message through different techniques. Those techniques include, simile, personification, imagery, alliteration, metaphor, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. Mora uses personification and imagery to create a moving image for her audience. The figurative language is imperative in this poem because it creates a unique picture that makes the audience think about the meaning of the poem.
