It is evident that Wagamese—through his life on the streets, familial abuse, and cultural lostness—illustrated his values of family, peace, and his Ojibway culture in his novel "Indian Horse". The choosing of this novel was solely based on a label saying multicultural, but it is more than that; it is reality. People in Canadian society come from a wide variety of different cultures, backgrounds and ethnicities. For this reason, it is important that we explore and are open to the various cultures alive and well in our country because they are so important to one’s identity and history. Through multiculturalism we learn about one’s unique identity in comparison to the melting pot of other cultures in Canada while also celebrating one’s similarities
