In the movie War Witch, Komona conducts her own Sankofa which means go back and get it. The director re humanizes Komona with the concept of going back and providing her parents with a ceremonial burial by allowing her parents to hunt her until she went back to their village to bury them . Throughout the whole movie her parents keep watch over her by sending different ghost to watch over and warn her of life threating trouble in her life. When she got to a point in her life when she was no longer threaten, her parents appeared to her in what I received as “ We have took care of you these years , so now it is time for you to take care of us by going back home and giving us a proper burial.
