I invited 5 colleagues to join me on the ‘Anderson Team Journey.’ (ref) The first activity within this journey was the completion of a team effectiveness audit. The audit asked members of the Learning and Development team/workstream to answer seven questions on a 5 point Likert Scale of 1 being strongly disagree to 5 being strongly agree. An introduction to the team selected, the 5 point Likert Scale and the results of the audit can be found in appendix A.

As a team we reviewed the results of the audit. The statement that received the strongest consensus of agreement of 4.6 was “we have a strong team identity – we know what the team is here to achieve and we know who is in the team.” No one was surprised that this first question had been …show more content…
The audit asked members of the team to answer 7 questions of a 5 point Likert Scale of 1 being strongly disagree to 5 being strongly agree. The audit allowed a degree of anonymity and therefore minimised the potential of social desirability bias that Paulhus (1984).

The author acknowledges that a criticism of Likert sales is that they are uni lateral and fail to measure participants true beliefs (need to find a supportng ref), but I believe that this criticism was minimised by the team meeting together for 2 x 2 hour sessions to explore the findings of the audit and complete additional Anderson team Journey Activities. Through further discussions of the findings of the audit, a more accurate picture of beliefs, attitudes and the basis of them were gathered/explored.

Five out of the 6 members invited to participate in the audit completed the activity. The 6th member was not able to complete the audit prior to the team meeting to review the results due to leave. An overview of team members who completed the team effectiveness audit are detailed

...Running Head: MID-TERM ESSAY: IKEA CASE STUDY 1 Mid-Term Essay: IKEA Case Study Emily Shinkle Indiana Wesleyan University Business, Analysis and Technology ADM-508 Rodney Swope July 29, 2012 Mid-Term Essay: IKEA Case Study All companies share three characteristics – goals, people, and structure (Robbins, Decenzo, & Coulter, 2011). IKEA, a global furniture company, exemplifies these characteristics in an excellent way. Mikael Ohisson (2011), President and CEO, says, “We’re a values-driven company on a never ending journey to be the leader in life at home”(www.ikea.com) Mikael and his team have proved this truly is their goal by setting a great example when it comes to other topics within business such as social responsibility, decision making, and strategic planning. IKEA is considered a multinational corporation (MNC), which simply means is a consumer had four homes in four different countries they could all be furnished from ceiling to floor in IKEA because this company sells their products in many different places (Robbins et al., 2011). The Swedish-based company currently has 287 stores in 26 countries and maintains 1,018 suppliers in 53 countries (www.ikea.com). The simple and inexpensive furnishings are popular in many different social and cultural settings, giving IKEA a well-rounded approach at business around the globe. It was not until 1994 that IKEA decided to expand to China. Complex Needs

...Holistic Account of Care for a Patient or Client with Complex Needs What are complex needs? Who has them? It could be argued that everyone's needs are complex and as such, complex needs have been difficult to define (Rosengard et al., 2007). This essay intends to use literature to outline a systematic and holistic approach to care of a patient's complex needs. The nursing process and its framework of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation will be utilised to provide a patient centred approach (Castledine, 2011). Rankin and Regan (2004) described complex needs as being a framework rather than a label that determines service eligibility. The needs of people include breadth (range of need) and depth (severity); these factors have to be taken into account when providing holistic care. Holistic care is defined as an approach which takes into consideration the physical, mental and social factors in an illness, rather than just the disease itself (Martin, 2010). The person this essay will centre around gave informed consent to have their notes consulted with the intention to write this essay, in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's (NMC) The Code (2008). There are seven elements to informed consent; competence to decide, voluntariness to decide, disclosure of information, recommendation of a plan, understanding of the disclosure and recommendation, decision of the plan and authorising of the plan (Beauchamp & Childress, 1994 pp. 145-146). In line with the...

...reflective account of my learning experience whilst undertaking my mentorship module. According to Schön (1983), the two types of reflection are reflection in action and reflection on action. Reflection in action is the process of reflecting whilst completing a task whilst reflection on action is the process of reflecting on what you have done. This is an account of my learning experience, combining both approaches, whilst undertaking the mentorship course. The Gibbs model (1988) is a popular tool use to analyse and describe reflection. It is a cycle with six stages: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, and conclusion and action plan. The rationale for using this model is because it is clear and precise. The essay will take into account my personal journey and the skills I am bringing to this course. Confidentiality will be maintained in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC, 2008). Informed consent where necessary was also gained in accordance with the NMC Code (2008). Description I am currently working as a Registered Mental Health Nurse involved with patients with various challenges, and with staff at various stages of professional development. Learning and mentorship is an important activity in such an environment. Some of my colleagues had already completed their mentorship training and their recommendation of the course as taught in this University inspired me to apply. Furthermore, I enjoy teaching people and thinking about the challenges that...

A Change Apparent

...Thórarinn Leifsson, HC Anderson Illustrations, 2004 A Change Apparent Can reform driven by cost make a meaningful and sustainable change? GV6503 – PUBLIC SECTOR Word Count (excluding bibliography and cover page): 2532 The Current Government proposals for reforming the public sector are driven more by the desire to cut expenditure than to genuinely reform the system. Like countless reform initiatives before, it could turn out to be a case of the Emperor’s New Clothes disguising the fact that underneath, all of the old problems and weaknesses remain. Introduction The contributing reasons for Ireland’s financial crisis are many and complex but the fact is Ireland found itself with insufficient operating funds towards the end of 2010 and entered a ‘Bailout’ programme with a troika of the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission. The purpose of the Programme was twofold; first, and many would argue very much foremost, to re-capitalise and restructure the banking sector. Second, €50 billion of the Programme’s total €85 billion loan was to cover “Safeguarding Public Finances” (Department of Finance Ireland, 2010). In return for the €85 billion facility the Troika demanded austerity measures and reforms that would ensure a sustainable economy within the European Growth and Stability fiscal guidelines by 2015 (and later extended to 2016). The achieve the 3% spending deficit required under these guidelines, the Irish government was...

I had to fill in my inter-professional education book where i had to interview a client about his experience in the health care setting and how he is coping with his health and illness and the health care he is receiving whilst he is in the care of the National Health Service. I will be discussing his cultural needs and how it makes impacts on health and the impact it has on the client/ families psychological and social. This essay will show a non-judgemental description of the patient’s personality, family, cultural or social background. In this case study I have changed his name and will be referring to the patient as Mr Asim Khan to maintain confidentiality and identity. I will not give the name of the hospital/PCT. This is a breach of confidentiality policy and by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC 2008). I choose Asim Khan as my chosen patient because I found him polite, and his social history very interesting, he was easy to talk to, and he was open about his medical condition and willing to discuss any questions I had regarding his condition. I also found out about his medical history and social background. I really appreciated that despite his ill condition and the pain he was going through, he still took time out to talk...

Organisation Change Management

...organisation are considered as change leaders. They are the people who imagines, initiate as well as funding for extensive strategic change or making the employees believe and empower them to operate. On the other hand, the middle level managers as well as functional experts are usually regarded as change managers because they perform the transition and build the assistance for change in the units of business as well as important functions. ...Essays on Service Improvisation Competence: Empirical Evidence from The Hospitality Industry A Dissertation Presented to the Graduate School of Clemson University In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Philosophy Management by Enrico Secchi August 2012 Accepted by: Dr. Aleda V. Roth, Committee Chair Dr. Thomas A. Mroz Dr. Gulru Ozkan Dr. Rohit Verma Abstract This dissertation explores the service design antecedents and the performance outcomes of Service Improvisation Competence (Serv–IC)—the ability of service employees to deviate from established processes and routines in order to timely respond to unexpected events, using available resources. Service operations and strategy research have strongly highlighted the importance of possessing flexibility in order to face the uncertainty derived from the interaction with the external environment (Tansik and Chase 1988, Eisenhardt and Tabrizi 1995, Brown and Eisenhardt 1998, Frei et al. 1999, Menor et al. 2001, Frei 2006). An important component of the ability of service firms to adapt to customer requests, expectations, and needs rests in the systemic ability of frontline employees to creatively adapt to the challenges posed by the constant struggle to satisfy customers. This dissertation is composed of three essays. In Essay 1, we build the theoretical framework necessary to advance a theory of Service Improvisation Competence, and we propose a nomological network that links service delivery...

Personal Statement

...Subject: Successful Princeton Applicant Through all of my accomplishments and disappointments, I have always been especially proud of the dedication and fervor I possess for my personal beliefs and values. Unfortunately, it has often been difficult for me to remain outwardly firm and confident in a town where most people think alike and reject exceptions. Whenever I have expressed my position as a pro-life advocate, peers have badgered, accused, and ridiculed me for simply believing in something that they scorn. Despite all the pressure, I never waive red from my belief, yet I became frustrated and began to lose the courage to publicly express my opinion on this controversial topic. To gain some insight and reassurance for myself, I attended the New Jersey Right to Life Convention in the spring of 1995. This experience uplifted me and offered great inspiration and enlightenment. At the convention I received an overwhelming amount of support and encouragement from wonderful people who advocate the very principles I believe in. This convention was so inspiring that the next day in school I was able to relate my experience to one of my biggest opponents on the subject. Also, the abundant information available at the convention enabled me to defend my position on abortion more effectively. Attending this convention accomplished two things. It proved my commitment to my belief, in that I took the initiative to strengthen and support my opinion, refusing to give up or lose heart. Unlike...
