Animals are being tested everyday for our needs. Many people think this is wrong, but I think animal testing is a good thing because it has led to great medical discoveries and it keeps us safe when using everyday products.

Animal testing is a good thing because of all of the medical discoveries that have come out of it. Animal testing is the reason we have treatments for diseases like diabetes, mumps, some STDs, hepatitis, polio, and more. Animals are also being tested for cancer research. In the UK they are using animals to test cancer treatments. Thanks to these animal testings cancer survival has doubled in the last 40 years(cancerresearchuk.org).

Not only are animals used for testing vaccines, medicines, and other medical purposes

...having a choice and being used for testing without having a say; for everyone this seems like a horrible nightmare but for animals this nightmare is reality. Animals should not be used for testing. They don’t have a voice so they have no way of saying no and testing on animals is wrong in every way possible. This is unfair to the animals because they don’t have a choice. Although animal testing is wrong, it is a good way to make sure the product research is safe before retailing it and letting people use it. Animal testing should not be used because animals have no way of saying no and it is wrong is every way. Animal testing is wrong because animals can’t say no. What if you weren’t able to say no about being tested on? That’s how animals feel because they have no voice. For example, animals are being taken advantage of. Animals can’t talk so the decision on whether or not to be tested on is already made for them. Animals don’t even get to decide things that are being done to them. As said in an article, “Animals are routinely cut open, poisoned and put into cages for weeks, month, or even year” (Ocean Lu Blog). Animals don’t deserve to have all of these things done to them. Animals also have no say in what gets done to them. Sometimes animals get things that don’t belong in their bodies put into them just to see how they react. They don’t have a say in whether or not they can have these things put into them. As said in an article, “Some animals are even given diseases to see...

Animal testing should not be allowed in the United States because it is not the right thing for humans to do to the innocent animals, and putting them through that pain. While the opposite believe animal testing should be okay for certain products, the U.S. should ban animal testing because many do not believe in testing on animals, the environment of animal testing is dangerous and the outcome is not good, And scientist have other choices to pick from not just using animals. Argumentative Essay On Animal Testing

...Scientists putting animals through suffrage through medical research, but in any case, it is not contested, but on a scale it often is. There is an up and downstream of whether animal experimentation is a part of good science and also result in medical breakthroughs for humans. Depending on whether the progress may have achieved by any means. Millions of animals each year in the United States are experimented on for testing to help find cures and medicine for sick people/patients. Toxicity of medicine is put into animals and take the risk of whether or not are tests are successful or not so we can research further more. Research is led into saving lives, but what about the ones that are tested for hours on end and spend days in cages without...

Why Is Animal Testing Wrong

...How would you feel if you were locked in a cage, with people coming and going, experimenting on you? Would you feel good? This is what actually happens to animals. I believe that animal testing is horrible and should not be continued. Why this is important is because of my reasons, that are: first it is expensive; second that it is inaccurate; and my third and most important reason is because animal testing abuses an animal rights. My first reason why I think animal testing is bad is because it is really expensive. According to Vittana “... the total cost of caring for a dog could be over $9000 per year.”. That is only a possibility, and only that, but the cost could still be well over $500, which is the least amount required, and even though...

...different from a human being to a wild animal. We think, we feel, and we see, we all have a life. An animal poked, prodded, and abused is no different from a person being mishandled. Happiness and sadness are two major emotions both animal and human both experience, weather we were born in a jungle or a hospital. The Department of Agriculture has approved the importation of 37 marmosets for experiments in laboratories. We don't know precisely what's in store for these creatures but you can be sure it's likely to be something that turns your stomach. Sydney University in recent years used marmosets in experiments in which their eyes were removed for testing and the animals were put down. About 92% of experimental...

Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing

...There are various kinds of animal testing, however the most controversial testing that gets the most debate is biomedical research and product testing. In biomedical research "Animals are used to understand basic biology, as “models” for studying human biology and disease, and as test subjects for the development and testing of drugs, vaccines, and other biologicals to improve and advance human health" (Animals in Research Web). Along with that, product testing is the process of using animals in order to "predict toxicity, corrosivity, and other safety variables as well as the effectiveness of new products, traditional testing of chemicals, consumer products, medical devices, and new drugs" (Animals in Research Web). The exercise of animal...

Animal Testing

...seventy million animals are hurt and killed in the name of science by private institutions, household products and cosmetics companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and scientific centers. Animal testing is wrong and downright mean. Innocent animals should not be treated badly and caused pain for the sake of a human's safety. Many people think animal testing is good while others think it is wrong. I think it is completely and absolutely wrong. Some people argue that humans are not necessarily superior to animals, so why should animals be experimented on and made to suffer to protect human beings? Do you know what animal testing is, what condition the animals live in, and what some alternatives to testing animals are? Animal testing is the use of animals in biological, medical, and psychological studies. Human beings and many animals have similar organ systems and body processes. Experiments on animals help scientists increase knowledge about the way the human body works. In the United States, scientists perform experiments on more than twenty million animals each year. That is way too many. Medical researchers study animals to get a better understanding of body processes in humans and animals. They use many animals to study the causes and effects of illnesses, such as cancer and heart disease. Vivisection is the most controversial issue of animal rights. Vivisection actually means “cutting a living thing”. Some popular companies that still test on animals are Band-Aid...

Persuasive Essay Against Animal Testing

...Animal Testing Horrifying images come to mind when people discuss animal testing: mutations, glow-in-the-dark hair, and death. Since the debate began, those who oppose animal testing often propose alternative methods to replace animals. Activists suggest methods such as in vitro or computer programs. Regardless of these new advances, persisting facts endure proving animals to be useful in multiple scenarios, and animal testing to be ethical despite common belief. Animal testing has proved its usefulness in the past century in numerous ways. Credit is due to animals for the treatment to diabetes, organ transplants, and the polio vaccination (Myers). In fact, the past century attributes every stride in medical advancement to animal experimentation....

...experimented on animals. It is said that millions of animals die due to the testing on them every year. Many people are concerned that animals are abusing unnecessarily and suffering cruelly. Animal testing should be outlawed because it is inhumane. Animals should have the equal freedom with human beings. They are all forms of lime. The main disadvantage of animal testing is the inhumane treatment of animals in tests due to the fact that anesthesia for the help of pain is often not used. The animals feel the same pain that as the humans feel. Also not necessary. They particularly feel that animal testing often used for non-essential products such as cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, and cleaning products. Furthermore, some campaigners would like to see certain tests replaced and more humane methods used. Animal testing allows scientists to test and create new drugs. Animals such as monkeys or rabbits have similar physical processes to humans. This allows scientists to test the safety and effectiveness of newly developed drugs before pilot testing on small groups of patients. Medical teams practice new operating techniques such as transplants on animals. Without animal testing, many procedures or new drugs would be extremely unsafe. Millions of lives are saved every year because of one animal’s results to either a drug or new form of surgery, the results are not applicable to humans. This may be partly true. Some drugs have had to be withdrawn, despite testing. However, we...

...cruelty towards animals is growing rapidly because people don’t understand the value of an animal’s life. People all around the world use and abuse animals as if it was some kind of national sport, and everybody is competing for the first place gold medal. Ever year millions of animals are being beaten and starved because of heartless people. Animal cruelty is a social issue that many people don’t understand. All the people who abuse animals don’t understand when they are harming an innocent animal are going to continue to do it until they are shown what they are doing wrong. Each type of abuse has certain patterns that scientists can study and find out why people commit the crimes they do. Animal cruelty is broken down into two categories, which are active and passive. Active cruelty is also known as NAI (non-accidental injury). NAI is when a person has malicious intent so fierce that they deliberately and intentionally cause harm to an animal. On the other hand with passive cruelty a person doesn’t intentionally cause harm to the animal, they simple neglect it by giving it no attention. While I was doing the research for this essay, I thought non-stop about how a human being could break a dogs leg, back, or even neck and feel no sympathy for the dog? Are some people in this world that heartless that they have no feelings for other living things? I wonder if you asked a person that has abused an animal if they would do the same things they did to the animal to another human...

Animal Testing Benefits

...Animals have been tortured and traumatized, but for what? Soap? Some people think it’s okay for animals to die for our benefit, but its really not. Animals deserve rights and should not be taken advantage of. They don’t deserve what the scientists do to them. Not all experiments actually help everyone. Many experiments effect animals very differently than they effect humans, good or bad. In a Nature Reviews Drug Discovery article, it explains how the top leukemia drug, Gleevec, was almost thrown away because it caused severe liver toxivity in dogs. Misleading animal experiments may cause us to throw away possible cures in humans. Vice versa, Vioxx, was shown to protect the hearts of mice, monkeys, dogs, and other lab animals. Though, it was linked to heart attacks and strokes in over 400,000 humans. Therefore, experiments on animals can actually harm humans too....

Animal Testing

...INTRODUCTION The use of animals in scientific experimentation should continue to be fought against because it is morally wrong, there are alternatives to animal experimentation, and the unnecessary research it involves. The use of animals in experimentation has been a debate and a controversy for quite some time now. Many have strong opinions and views on this sensitive issue. That leads us to one question: Is it right? There are alternatives to animal experimentation, and they are addressed by some government websites. The number of animals used for experimentation tens of millions. Scientists defend animal research saying that this testing has contributed greatly to the advancement of cures for human diseases. However, in our generation, there should be a continued resolve in the fight against animal experimentation because it is morally wrong, there are now promising alternatives, and it involves a lot of unnecessary research. " The practice of animal experimentation and testing continues not because it is the most accurate or reliable means of research, but rather because of tradition, peer-pressure, and enormous promotion from those with strong vested interests." S.O.S at the University of Georgia (2012) BODY In my opinion animal testing is wrong, mainly for the moral debate of inflicting unnecessary pain to a living species, but it is also wrong for the environment. Scientists claim that testing on animals is the key to find cures for human diseases, and try to justify...

...Why do we use animals to be tested on? Is it ethical or unethical? Many animals are used every year to test on human products, medications, and possible cures for diseases. These animals range from anywhere from rats to dogs and cats. Some tests are to help other animals as well, but are these test necessary and do we benefit from them? In the Journal essay I will discuss the benefits of animal testing and I will also discuss the downside of animal testing. When animals are used for testing cures and medicines, it helps us know if it is safe for humans to use them. The ethical side of animal testing is that it is good for us humans, because it helps us with answers and experiments. Researchers think that animals can feel no pain because they do not have a conscious. In pence’s book it says, “Animals are like fleshy machines: their eyes reflected no soul, and no pain lay behind their external “pain behavior”. So why do people get all worked up over animal testing if animals do not feel pain like us humans do? Animals have no pain or conscious, therefore they are tested on so humans do not have to suffer the pain from experiments. If we kill animals for food, why can we not use them for beneficial experiments as well? Animals are produced all the time for our food sources, and they have to be killed to become our food. If people think animals suffer from testing, they have to suffer in being raised for our food as well. If we allow animals to be produced and slaughtered for...
