Zinck, K., & Littrell, J. (2000). Action Research Shows Group Counseling Effective with At-Risk Adolescent Girls. Professional School Counseling, 4(1). The article discusses action research that was conducted on a group of 35 at risk teen girls between the ages of 15-18. The study included a total of 35 adolescent girls who were involved in one of four small group counseling sessions that were held over a 10 week time frame in a high school. Of the 35 girls 31 completed the study. The girls were asked to complete a pre and post questionnaire as an evaluation method. Students also were asked to set two behavioral goals as well as define a primary problem that they wished to address in group. The results at the end of the research indicated group counseling appeared effective in promoting individual change. At 1-week and 6-week follow ups, a majority of female students reported moderate to strong progress in achieving their primary and secondary goals. A significant reduction in problem severity was reported by students upon termination of the counseling groups. In addition, female students experienced meaningful changes in attitudes and in their relationships …show more content…

English 102

...EN102 - English Composition II VIP - Week 5 Week 5 Objectives: Upon successful completion of this Lesson, students will be able to:  Reflect and respond to published works using scholarly analysis  Utilize library resources when researching Reading Assignment Key Points: Academic writing is all about dissent. As writers in academia, we welcome a dialogue with those whose ideas challenge our own. This is an essential part of the academic process for several reasons:    Because through dissent we add to the general pool of knowledge, Because through these challenges to our ideas, we strengthen our arguments, Because it compels us to seek a much broader, more encompassing world view. Inductive and Deductive Reasoning When we think, we start with, what Aristotle called the “Three Fundamental Laws of Thought.” While this is a complex concept, we can simplify it as: 1. The Law of Identity: Whatever is, is what it is. For instance, a cow is a cow. It may be a Jersey cow, it may be an old cow, it may even be a purple cow, but it is most definitely a cow. 2. The Law of Contradiction: Nothing can both be, and not be. A cow cannot both be a cow and not a cow at the same time. 3. The Law of the Excluded Middle: Everything must either be or not be. For instance, a cow is not, under any circumstances, and un-cow. A horse is also not a cow. According to these laws, there is no middle ground. Naming a thing makes it conceptual; it is, quite simply...

...Annotated Bibliography: What the Literature Says About Juvenile Sex Offenders The following articles, factsheets, and studies have been compiled to assist attorneys and individuals working on behalf of youth charged with sexual offending. The information contained in these resources aim to help others realize the fundamental differences between adult sex offenders and juvenile sex offenders, which include positive responses of juveniles to treatment, low recidivism rates of juveniles and negative impact of registries on youth development. It is our hope that this information will be used to improve legal outcomes for juvenile sex offenders, and uphold the purpose of the juvenile justice system as a rehabilitative, not punitive, system. PUBLICATIONS BY TOPIC Recidivism Rates/Amenability to Treatment Judith V.
