Antherm Literary Analysis Of Anthem By Ayn Rand

...Antherm Literary Analysis: Self understanding The future, a huge mystery to everyone and everything. It yields many choices and paths for mankind, to reach out to space, to become united as one, or to destroy our world or make every man a slave and subdue to a higher power. One of these paths taken by men is shown in the book “Anthem” by Ayn Rand. Instead of furthering our technology, intelligence of the world, or peace among us, we choose, or a council chooses, to make every man, woman, every individual to be a “drone” or a slave to a society that suppresses talents and destroys individual thoughts and actions. The society has taken a step back, going to candles and carriages. People are forced to do jobs that a large council chooses for them and everyone is so obedient that that the thought of being “disobedient” to the council is a sin. But in every dark, gloomy dystopia, there is a small light that can lead someone on a path to push back the suppression or the higher power. All it takes is a single individual to make something amazing and that influences the way he/she challenges themself and the society that they live in. In “Anthem”, this individual is Equality 7-2521 or Prometheus by the end of the book who brings light in a...

...greater when he might have the less”-Plato. Each person in the world is born with their own unique personality that no one else can change or take away. In Anthem, Ayn Rand demonstrates how it is impossible to deny a person of their nature, no matter what the cost is. In this story independence is denied, but not broken. Individuality is masked, but still shines through. Freedom is lost, but finds a way back. Equality 7-2521, another young adult trapped in a society where no one is better than the other; they cannot depend on themselves. Equality has an independent mind. When Equality was finishing his job with International 4-8818, they come...

Anthem And Long Live By Ayn Rand: A Literary Analysis

...Life is nothing without friendship. Everybody has friends, and people they love, but above all are the friends you love. The ones you’d do anything for. They’re the people who make life worth living. The theme of friendship and love is shown strongly in “Anthem” by Ayn Rand and “Long Live” by Taylor Swift. The book “Anthem” is about a dystopian society. Anything that isn’t done collectively is frowned upon. To have friends or to love is outlawed. Then Equality 7-2521 makes a friend and falls in love (not with the same person), defying society. Friendship and love are important themes in Anthem. A quote that displays this is, “We stood still; for the first time did we know fear; and then pain. And we stood still that we might not spill this pain more precious than pleasure” (39). This was the...
