Anthony was on his way home from school. Mondays were the worst for him mainly because he knew he had to go to school for the rest of the week. Anthony wasn’t your typical 12 year old, with the brown buzz cutted hair, and those blue eyes. Everyday Anthony would get bullied by Kevin Dumply, the meanest, baddest, kid at the Frankfort Middle School. Kevin had long blonde hair with a tint of brown, all the ladies loved his hair. Meanwhile, Anthony sat at home on his bed that was covered with pillows and blankets that were as blue as the sky. He thought about not being bullied and what tomorrow would be like. Anthony didn’t know if tomorrow would be like today or if tomorrow would change in a good way. Soon, Anthony fell asleep and never awoke …show more content…
He gathered himself up, stretched and got ready for the day ahead of him. Stumbling down the stairs Anthony organized his books and folders in his arms, he shoved them in his backpack as his mom came walking up. Anthony lifted his head and his mom gave him a kiss on the forehead and told him to have a good day. Anthony’s mom watched out the tinted windows of their house as he walked down hoping he has a good day for once. Anthony pushed himself mentally to walk through the school doors. Once he had go to his locker he grabbed his first hour materials, which included his social studies folder, notebook, and textbook along with his pencil pouch. He hated social studies the most , but sooner or later he got through his morning classes. As soon as froth hour was over he launched himself to lunch trying to be the first one in line. Trying to stay undercover from Kevin he went through the inside lunch line, the lunch lady handed him mac ‘n’ cheese. “Ewwwww” he whispered to himself, “Liquidy mac ‘n’ cheese.” The slimy mac ‘n’ cheese sat on his lunch tray, Anthony also bothered to take some carrots and a slim milk. All alone Anthony sat down at a lunch table, and at the time Anthony’s only friend was his food at the …show more content…
So, he started walking to the garbage but he couldn’t get there without being tripped by Kevin Dumply. Falling to the floor Anthony’s food splattered all over him. He ended up looking like Sponge Bob with the mac ‘n’ cheese all over him. He looked around, Anthony got up leaving his food lay there as he ran to the boys locker room where he had extra clothes. “5-29-2” quietly speaking to himself as Anthony released his lock and opened his locker. He scoured for some clothes and then changed quickly, he desperately moved his way back out to the cafeteria. Everyone was gone, and everything was cleaned up. Anthony glanced around for a minute and then started to walk outside where everyone was for

Frethorne and Johnson

...It’s All About Perspective Two men, Richard Frethorne and Anthony Johnson, arrived to the early seventeenth-century English colonies in North America right around the same time. Although the two men were there for different reasons, both of them had similar conditions and setbacks to live with. In “Retracing the Past: Readings in the History of the American People” written by Gary B. Nash and Ronald Schultz, there is a letter from a white indentured servant named Richard Frethorne to his family titled, “Richard Frethorne’s Letter Home (1623)”. In the letter, Frethorne described the new world and his working conditions to his family back in England; and was disappointed in what he had discovered. Another reading, “Anthony Johnson: Patriarch on Pungoteague Creek”, written by T.H. Breen and Stephen Innes, is included in Retracing the Past: History of the American People. The story of Anthony Johnson is about the young black slave who ended up being equal to the white man in society. Richard Frethorne and Anthony Johnson both lived under similar conditions regarding the land and the provisions that were available. However, Anthony Johnson was a stronger man and had a better perspective than Richard Frethorne. Indentured servants were not quite slaves back in the seventeenth-century. Frethorne and his fellow indentured servants migrated to Virginia and settled in the Chesapeake colony. They agreed to work for a particular amount of time in exchange for land or freedom in the...

Casey Anthony Trial

...Chad Muhlbauer #462436 Legal @ Social Environment of Business Heidi Noonan-Day Section 03 Casey Anthony Trial For the past three years, people have tuned-in to television, radio, newspapers, and the internet to hear the latest news on the famous Casey Anthony trial. During June and July of 2011, there wasn't a TV station that didn't have coverage on it. It was a case many mothers and fathers could relate to because it dealt with the everlasting love between a parent and their child; or so they thought. In this paper I'm going to talk about why the jury found Casey innocent of first degree murder and what is wrong with the American Justice System that allows guilty people like her walk free. How far does reasonable doubt go? Also, I want to talk about why the case hit so close to home for many people that followed along with the case, and what needs to be done regarding child abuse laws in Florida. First off, let us get the facts of the case straight. Casey Anthony waited 31 days to report her two-year-old daughter Caylee missing, in the summer of 2008. At first she told authorities that her nanny had kidnapped her, then went back on her word and said later in the trial process that she drowned in her parents swimming pool. Casey also lied to police about having a job and made up stories about future plans she had with her daughter. Testimonies and video footage also showed Casey out shopping, drinking, and hanging with friends during the time Caylee was “missing”...

Hail Analysis

...HAIL The movie that I watched was “Hail” which is directed by Amiel Courtin Wilson. He is one of the famous innovative director and movie makers of Australia. The movie is about an old man who just out of jail “Dan” and his relationship with his long-term girlfriend “Leanne”. Actually through the movie, we have seen that effort of Dan to be integrated into his normal life.I think the characters in the movie are very realistic because Amiel Courtin-Wilson used non – actor Daniel P. Jones as his leading man and the story also based on the real life of Daniel P. Jones, in other words, Daniel sort of plays himself in the movie. In addition to Daniel, Leanne Letch also non-actor and plays herself, indeed I think “Hail” is a love story because in the real life they are also lovers and in the movie even though there are items such as murder, drugs and revenge, characters made many things because of love that they feel against each other. The film passes through the state of Melbourne and starts with scene of get out of jail of Dan. After leaving prison, in the second scene, Dan goes to his longtime girlfriend’s house and we see that they hugging to each other and talking to each other in a romantic manner. In these scenes, their conversations it seems to me like improvisation because their gestures and forms of longing each other were very natural. In the later scenes, we see that Dan is trying to find a job in order to go back his normal life. Firstly, he makes job interview with...

Casey Anthony

...in Ohio on March 19, 1986, Casey Anthony stepped into the national spotlight after the suspicious disappearance of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. As her story unfolded, many believed she was unquestionably guilty. The jury, however, felt differently. Anthony was acquitted of the murder charge, but she found herself loathed by the general public. EARLY YEARS Born on March 19, 1986, in Warren, Ohio, Casey Anthony was one of two children of Cindy Anthony and George Anthony, who worked in law enforcement. Casey was a bright, personable young girl, with friends and what many thought was an ordinary American family. However, friends say that a pattern of lying began when Casey was in high school. Cindy and George attended Casey's graduation, along with Casey's grandparents—only to discover that she was several credits short of graduating. Casey had stopped attending classes toward the end of the school year, but led her family to believe she would walk with the graduating class. When she was 19, Casey gave her family yet another shock. She had put on weight, and her parents suspected she was pregnant. Casey denied it, claiming she was a virgin. Seven months into her pregnancy, she told her parents the truth. The identity of the baby's father, however, remained a mystery. Casey pointed to different men, including her fiancé, Jesse Grund, as well as a young man she had dated previously, who had died in a car crash. On August 9, 2005, Caylee Anthony was born. A friend of Casey's said...

Reaction Paper: the Interlude

...Reaction paper: The Interlude Michael Anthony, born 1932 in Trinidad and Tobago, is a West Indian author of novels, short stories and travelogues about life in his homeland. In “The interlude”, Anthony tells of some events he imagined could have taken place a few minutes when someone’s past deeds cause an unfortunate event to happen. The story starts when Willis returns to San Fernando after two years in prison for fatally injuring Cyril and leaving him cripple. Willis hoped that the people of San Fernando had forgotten and forgiven his past self; however they had not. When he returned he was confronted by Little John who was enraged at him for what he had done to Cyril. Willis had no choice to try and defend himself from Little John. This made him the killer he was once; reliving his past. The author’s message is clearly showing that no one can escape from his or her past. This happens in reality each and every day. I can relate to Anthony’s message extensively. I was not always a Christian. In my younger days I use to be a very rebellious person, who would fight a lot and even curse out my parents. I went to a youth camp and the pastor’s message touched me. I no longer wanted to be the impure person I was. I wanted a change and a new mind set, but sadly, change does not come that easy. My past was still there, waiting to be dug up somehow. People who I had hurt still remembered me. They did not believe that a person can change so easily. One day I was walking from school...

Anthony Burgess

...Danielle Keys Professor Leach COM1102 24 January 2013 Anthony Burgess: Deeming Honor of Recognition We are gifted with a great opportunity as well as having the privilege, capability and means in exposing ourselves in a plethora of artful literature. Our freedom to choose what we read, our individual experiences to relate throughout in addition to our inter-feelings, we may develop our own interpretations of a story. With any given literacy we’ll comprehend and draw our own conclusions by the way of critical thinking. As a result, everyone does not view a single story the same way or draws the same conclusions to a stories ending. It’s up to the reader to “see” how it should play out. However, amid such freedom and range evolves readers of criticism and/or bias opinions towards various styles of literature. An author whose work has been of much negative criticism could be due to a reader of some ignorance towards the understanding of the context. Deficient to connect with a piece of literature, judgments of society, lack of critical thinking and understanding makes for a category of controversial authors. Among controversial authors’ such as, J.D. Salinger’s The Cather in the Rye, Dan Brown’s The DaVinci Code, J.K. Rowling’s The Harry Potter Series, Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Hasan, 2008), George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, so is Anthony Burgess’s most controversial novel A Clockwork Orange. A Red Hot Chilli Peppers Use and Abuse

...most famous rock stars in the world sounds like it would be all fun and games, right? For Anthony Kiedis it was a never ending roller coaster ride of fun, drugs, sex, fame, and also tragedy. Living the typical “rock star” lifestyle, Kiedis hit some of the highest and lowest points of his time. Many of those highs and lows involved Anthony being high, whether it be from marijuana, lsd, cocaine, heroin, or any other experimental drug he used. Struggling to keep himself together as he went on many unnecessary binges, Kiedis and his band the Red Hot Chili Peppers still managed to come out on top at the end of the rock n’ roll age of the twentieth century. If I were to paint a picture of Anthony’s personality, it would have to have many psychedelic characteristics, for he is very out-there compared to what is classified as normal. He is an artist with a completely original style, not only in his appearance but also in his song writing. In his prime time of the late 80’s into the early 90’s, he fits the description of a young, athletic body typed yet grungy looking California punk. Mo-hawks were styled, one tattoo turned into another, waves off the coast line were being surfed, and his overall attitude toward the world was rebellious with a “not giving a fuck” attitude. Kiedis simply did what he wanted, when he wanted, and ignored authority completely. Being the young out-law he was, Anthony got introduced to many drugs and foolishly tried whatever he could get his hands on. At...

Appeals Process

...Appeals Process Cara Drinkwine CJS/220 May 31st, 2015 Elizabeth Herbert Appeals Process When the defendant and defense counsel feels that the judge made an incorrect decision on the sentencing then the defendant through his representing counsel is able to appeal the decision. This is a difficult process seeing as the defendant has to ask for this in a set amount of time, and must have enough evidence to support the claim to even receive an appeal. There are many cases where an appeal worked in favor of the defendant and the sentencing was either reduced or thrown out altogether. The appeal process gives the defendant a second chance to be seen in front of the federal courts to receive a just sentence. The appeal process is designed to ensure that all defendants will have the chance to have due process especially in the beginning stages. The appeals process is absolutely necessary because it shapes laws on legal issues. “An appeal is a request to a higher (appellate) court for that court to review and change the decision of a lower court” (NOLO, 2015, p.1). Both the prosecution and the defense can always appeal a court’s decision on various motions including those that wish to exclude evidence in certain situations. The defendant can also appeal the court if there are legal grounds to do so. An appeal allows the defendant to possibly overturn the court’s decision (NOLO, 2015). There are overall three different primary types of appeals. The first is direct...

Crash

...have towards their very own culture and that of others’. Ethnocentrism, prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination are the core themes presented in the movie “Crash.” At the very beginning of the movie, two African American men are seen leaving a coffee shop, Anthony, the obviously more dominant of the two, and Peter. Anthony is complaining about the poor service they received, blaming the poor service on being African American. Peter is quick to point out that the waitress was also black. Anthony expresses to Peter that black women can also think in stereotypes believing that they, as black men, would not her leave a tip thus not putting forth the effort to provide them with good service. This is an example of stereotyping within a culture. This ties in to the social-conflict theory in that the woman did not see them as worthy of her effort because they would not enhance her economic situation. This stereotype has possibly come from experiences with young, black, male patrons in the past and when Anthony and Peter left without paying for the bill, they unwittingly reinforced the waitresses’ opinions. In the next scene, we see continued examples of stereotyping as well as ethnocentrism. As a white couple passes Anthony and Peter, the woman notices them and...

Conflict Analysis

...It’s 4am, I have been awakened by my son whom I have fed, changed, and returned him to his slumber. I sit here staring into the darkness and think this is as good a time as any to write my story of conflict. The assignment was to tell of a conflict of an interpersonal relationship that has impacted my life. I can only think of one such relationship. I was 14 when I met Anthony. I hated him. I hated his arrogance. I hated the way he walked, the way he talked, the way he thought he was better than all of us. In a short year, however, all the things I hated about him became the things I couldn’t resist. We started dating when I was 15. It was a troubled relationship from the start. Almost immediately he began cheating on me. I, of course, was blind to this, as we all are at that age. Shortly after our relationship began he was placed in a mental facility for troubled youths. I stayed by his side, devoting myself to him. I wrote him letters every single day for the entire year he was gone. Three months after he got out, he was placed back in the same facility. Again, I wrote letters every day until his release on his 18th birthday. He broke up with me shortly after that. But as all true romances go, that wasn’t the end. We started dating again. We picked up right where we left off with talk of marriage when I turn 18. We even moved in together 2 months before my 18th birthday. We talked of having a family and how it was us against the world. Things didn’t stay that way for long...
