Part II

Identify 2 or 3 issues faced by the aging population.

1. neglect 2. loneliness 3. abuse

Answer the following questions in 150 to 250 words each:

• What is being done to address the issues you identified?

I know one that that I am seeing more of is the adult daycares and assistant living homes. This allows people who don’t have time to care for their elderly family members to put them in these places so that they can get the proper care and attention that they need. This also allows the older people make friends or have some type of social life. This is really helpful because many old people often feel alone.

To help prevent abuse there are laws in place and background checks are being done at these facilities designed to take care of the elderly. I think that this is good because I use to hear so many stories about old people that have been neglected or that have been abused in places that are getting paid to take care of them. I personally feel like there is still a lot of things that still need to be put in place in order for this abuse and neglect to come to a cease and a lot of action that can help older people from feeling lonely.

• Is the number of aging population expected to rise in numbers or decrease?

The aging population is definitely expected to rise in numbers. The baby boomer era are either ready to retire or are already retired and enjoying their lives. Not to mention even since the baby boomer era, people have more kids and the population is definitely increasing dramatically. That will have people growing old and getting to that time when they will be in their 60’s and ready to retire.

• What types of legislation may or may not be affected by the aging population?

The legislation on Social Security will be affected by the increase of the aging population greatly. The increase will incite more claims for social security benefits, in the mean time life expectancy among the Baby Boomers expands, which will cause the government to give more in state’s pension or all other retirement program existed. The trust fund for Medicare and Medicaid will also get affected because of the increase government spending on health care. The government anticipates such a challenge and they already looking forward in increasing the retirement age to keep people working longer and retire at a later age.

• How does poverty affect the ageing population?

Hundreds of thousands of people live below the poverty line and since the economic recession has affected our country, poverty has increased even more. It is believed that it does not always affect the elderly as much. Elderly people normally receive rather good retirement benefits. Some elderly do struggled and it is believed that many pick pennies in order to buy food or their medications

Part III

Answer the following questions in 150 to 250 words each:

• How have people with disabilities been treated in the past?

Disabled people have been treated unfairly and bad in the past. Many in our society viewed disability as a curse instead of a misfortune. Their prejudices prevent them to judge those disabled people on their character, not on their handicapped. Prior to the Americans with Disabilities Act in I believe 1990, disabled people were discriminated against at work if they ever found one and they were humiliated at stores, restaurants, and at hotels. They did not have wheelchair accessibility at those places and It was not a concern for many establishments

• How has the attitude toward people with disabilities changed over time?

Attitudes toward people with disabilities have changed drastically over time. It is due to the presence of 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act that made it illegal to discriminate against the disabled. The opportunities in the law, disabled people started to expand their potential. They show their ability, they express their goals and objectives for a better life. They become athletes, and they are skillful musicians. Their success have changed peoples mind. Lately even the technology industry makes it more convenient by creating some great applications for them. In our country and all around the world the disabled population is growing, but they have not faced the challenges as people in the past.

• What are some unique circumstances or issues encountered by people with disabilities?

Unique circumstances encountered by disabled people are not limited to accessibility and social isolation. An example is considering a blind person who cannot make any move outside of his house without a guide which could be a trained dog or a person. Accessibility for the disabled is significant because some public places are inaccessible to disabled persons. They cannot take any type of transportation, even their own car needs special customization. The most unique issue of all is the ability to escape an accident, a natural disaster and even a fire in those circumstances they need a helper. Being disabled itself is a unique and unfortunate and they must have the accessibility and help they need.

• What is being done to address those issues?

It is a law for many buildings whether private or public to be able to have accessibility such as ramps so that a wheelchair may have access and to have larger rest rooms to accommodate the disabled. Many phones are equipped with special devices hat help hearing impaired people. Books have been created for the blind that they can benefit from. There are even sports teams for disabled people such as wheelchair basket ball. Disabled people still get rejected to a certain extent but it is to a minimum and they are being much more accepted now.

• What types of legislation have been introduced to address issues faced by people with disabilities?

The major legislation that was introduced to focus on issues faced by people with disabilities was the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. The ADA states it illegal to discriminate, abuse, and deny access to a person with a disability when concerning public relation. Whether it is about employment, or public accommodations, as in hotels, churches, schools, theaters, stores, and restaurants, we must treat them with equal as anybody else would be treated.

Iphones

...right now. When I was a kid there was never iPhones or the Samsung phones, but when I turned 12 I got my first phone and it was some kind of flip phone I can’t remember what kind. Between 15-19 years old I’ve always had a Samsung phone then the past 2 years I had a iPhone, and let me tell you that the iPhone is way nicer than the Samsung phones and more efficient , that’s my opinion. Screens: both the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 have excellent screens. However, they’re about as different as top-end smartphone screens get. The iPhone 6’s is more widescreen, letting the display expand without making the phone any wider than the iPhone 5S. Less concerned with keeping the phone palm-friendly, the 720p 4.8-inch monster screen of the Samsung Galaxy S5 does not compromise on size. Androids have bigger screens than IPhone. Like the Galaxy note which has 5.3” screen while IPhone only has 3.5" screen. But some android phones with big screen is kind of hard to use because of the big screen. It gives bulk, it can't easily be held in one hand, and it's kind of hard and a bit awkward when using it face to face. The screens are both touch that’s a similarity and also they have brightness adjustments to make your screen look nicer and if you want to save battery you just put the brightness all the way down. Apps: The Google Play store is rapidly catching up with the Apple App Store in terms of volume of apps and games. In late 2012, both stores revealed that the number of apps available had...

Flappy Bird's Now Officially Game over

...Flappy Bird’s now officially Game Over Have you seen the bird with thick lips, which looks really heavy, that can’t fly on its own? Tap to flap was its line to be able to go through the spaces of the tubes from above and below. That game which has a weird looking bird that keeps on making people curse themselves when it got itself bumped with the tubes, is called the Flappy Bird. In May, Dong Nguyen uploaded a new game to the iOS App Store. It was just one of the hundreds of apps added to Apple’s iTunes marketplace each day. Nguyen had created a simple game in which the player controls a funny-looking bird by tapping the screen, and it needed a simple name. He called it Flap Flap, until he realized another app had the same title. Luckily, developing and updating games on the App Store is such a fast, iterative process that he was able to quickly retitle it Flappy Bird. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. This game was very common to most teenagers where in they waste time just to be in high score. It was very viral that became the next Angry Birds and next Temple Run. Months after he released it, Flappy Bird shot to the top of the charts, drawing even more players, which made it even more popular, which drew in even more players. Millions of people were downloading Flappy Bird at its peak, and Nguyen was raking in $50,000 a day from the pop-up ads that appeared during gameplay. The concept of the game is just very simple: You tap the screen to make the bird fly, release to...

About Apple Watch

...so can other, less expensive smartwatches. That puts Apple's first wearable device in a bit of an awkward spot. It's an excellent product, but competing devices offer similar functionality at a fraction of the cost. Fortunately, the Apple Watch does a lot to help justify its premium price. It offers a more polished interface than other smartwatches, as well as a bigger app library at launch than any other wearable operating system. You also get features you won't find on many other watches, like the ability to take phone calls. And like any good smartwatch, it ensures you'll never miss an important alert. Only iPhone owners need apply, though — the Apple Watch must be linked to one in order to function. The Apple Watch is probably the best overall smartwatch on the market, and the best one for business users, too. But with such a high asking price — $349 for the smallest model with a plastic band, or $549 for a metal band — is the Apple Watch worth it? Design The watch comes in two sizes, including a 42-mm version and a smaller 38-mm version, which are identical except for their physical dimensions. I tested out the larger of the two; the smaller version's screen just feels too cramped to me. On the other hand, the 38-mm model is one of the few smartwatches that's small enough to look decent on people with small hands and wrists. As you would expect from Apple, the design of the Apple Watch shows great attention to detail. The transition between my review unit's sapphire...

...of Mobile App Stores: There is more than Open vs. Closed Roland M. Müller1, Bjorn Kijl2 and Josef K. J. Martens3 1 Berlin School of Economics and Law, Department of Information Systems, roland.mueller@hwr-berlin.deUniversity of Twente, School of Management and Governance, 2 b.kijl@utwente.nl, 3j.k.j.martens@alumnus.utwente.nl Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze the competition among mobile app stores for smart mobile media devices. Therefore, the business models of seven mobile app stores are analyzed with a special focus on Apple and Google. We use e3-value modelling - a formal business modelling technique - for analyzing the critical elements of these mobile ecosystems. The analysis of the app store ecosystems allows a differentiated view on the different strategies of the app store owners. Additionally, we look at the impact of network effects, economies of scale, platform differentiation, quality assurance, and transaction costs on the design of mobile application markets. This theoretical model allows a deeper discussion about the design choices and success factors in the different app store cases. Based on our analysis, we expect that the open versus closed models discussion becomes less relevant - so-called open platforms have closed aspects as well as the other way around - and that competitive differentiation and segmentation strategies will become increasingly critical in order to strengthen the competitive positioning of the different app store platforms...

...where tablets come also with internal memory and some have the ability to add expandable memory up to a certain size. Laptops have a keyboard and touch pad and tablets are touch screens and can have a Bluetooth keyboard attach to them that is sold separately. The next thing to consider is size a laptop can have a bigger screen size and a tablet largest screen size is 10.1 inches. Laptops can be attached to a printer for those items that need to be printed and tablets can print but the printer has to be a WIFI printer and attached to a wireless network. You have to also think about what you can hook to a laptop and a tablet. For example you can attach a laptop to an external monitor and well the tablet you cannot. Now you can down load an app for the tablet to hook to a smart TV but with the laptop you can use a HDMI cord from the HDMI port too hook to any TV with a HDMI port. They are both portable, which means they can be taken anywhere, which is one of the main reasons to want to purchase one of these items. The battery life is another issue that needs to be considered when you are deciding which one to buy. If you go by the manual on the tablet the battery life is about 10 to 15 hours where as a laptop is about 8 to 12 hours, but depending on the usage it could be less or more on both devices. Now you also have to consider software and operating system that are available on both devices. Tablets come with 3 different...

App Developer

...A 12-year-old app developer TEDxManhattanBeach · 04:40 · Filmed Oct 2011 I've always had a fascination for computers and technology, and I made a few apps for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. I'd like to share a couple with you today. My first app was a unique fortune teller called Earth Fortune that would display different colors of earth depending on what your fortune was. My favorite and most successful app is Bustin Jieber, which is — (Laughter) — which is a Justin Bieber Whac-A-Mole. I created it because a lot of people at school disliked Justin Bieber a little bit, so I decided to make the app. So I went to work programming it, and I released it just before the holidays in 2010. A lot of people ask me, how did I make these? A lot of times it's because the person who asked the question wants to make an app also. A lot of kids these days like to play games, but now they want to make them, and it's difficult, because not many kids know where to go to find out how to make a program. I mean, for soccer, you could go to a soccer team. For violin, you could get lessons for a violin. But what if you want to make an app? And their parents, the kid's parents might have done some of these things when they were young, but not many parents have written apps. (Laughter) Where do you go to find out how to make an app? Well, this is how I approached it. This is what I did. First of all, I've been programming in multiple other programming languages to get the basics down, such as...
