Suicide and murder are looked upon in today’s society as one of the worst things someone can do. I do not condone these things but when you think more in depth, is this not a part of life today? When can these things be wrong and immoral or just necessary? If some person or thing is suffering, is it right to ease the pain? Assisted suicide by a physician can help people that truly ask for their suffering to be over. Every person should have a choice. The first topic to bring up is the realization of how we treat our pets today. No person wants their pets to suffer if they are ill. Pets that suffer are put to rest in a safe and to our knowledge painless way. A question to ask is why do people care more about their pets than the people in their …show more content…
(CNN.com) These are so few states compared to the amount of people that live in the entire United States. Why does the United States feel that the rest of these people should not have a choice on ending their suffering. Physicians are the only people truly qualified to perform this in a safe and painless way. The physicians should also not perform this act without fully talking to the patient and their family. “Average percent of terminally ill patients who die in pain is 55%” (Static Brain) This percent is incredibly high for how hard doctors try to ease these patients pain. Why do we allow so many people to die with so much pain? How long has this pain been going on? After so much time of incredible uncontrollable pain, these patients should have been allowed a way to stop the suffering. Doctors are employed to save lives, but they are also there to help ease suffering in any way possible. If there is nothing else that doctors can do to help ease a patients suffering, they should step up and end the suffering in the only other way possible. “Voluntary Euthanasia - When a competent person makes a voluntary and enduring request to be helped to die.” (Euthanasia) Euthanasia is meant to be end a person’s life in a safe and painless

It has been a pertinent issue in human rights discourse as it also affects ethical and legal issues pertaining to patients and health care providers. This paper discusses the legal and ethical debates concerning both types of euthanasia. It focuses on both the supporter of euthanasia and the opponent of euthanasia. Several statements for the Euthanasia argument arediscussed: a merciful response that alleviates the suffering of patients which is sometimes wrongly perceived to be otherwise unrelievable; the autonomy in which the patient has the right to make his own choices; the regulation and legislation of existing practices of euthanasia to protect health care providers and patients. In this heated debate religious, political, ethical, legal and personal views are also included. Among all these, those who desperately want to end their lives because they simply cannot go on in any way, are the ones who suffer. Every individual or group has a different viewpoint...
