Evaluation of the Orientation Program
Question 1
Strengths
· Once Simpson had accepted the job she was given a map of BANTEX Electronics and instructed to report to the company meeting room Monday at 8:30 am. Simpson was left well informed of where to go and when to be there, she was also given a map to help guide her to the designated room.
· The orientation procedure was well organised
· The orientation program contained a lot of information about the company and it processes; a company handbook was produced for later referral.
· After orientation Simpson felt enthusiastic about her new employer.
· During the orientation there is a chance for clarification.

Weaknesses
· Simpson felt she had been given a tremendous amount of information to digest in a very short time
· Simpson wasn't sure which parts of the information she had been given, that needed to be known right away.
· Simpson felt anxious after the orientation about her impending job responsibilities.
· Simpson wasn't told who too contact if she had further questions or queries.

You need to ensure that you clearly identify what are strengths and what are weaknesses – the easiest way is to have sub- headings
The most important part of this question (other than of course identifying what the strengths and the weaknesses are – is to explain WHY!!!
At the Diploma level, you are expected to demonstrate your analytical skills – so there is no point just saying what the issue is – you need to explain why it is an issue – what is the outcome of this

Question 2
To improve BANTEX'S orientation program i would recommend trying to make the weaknesses into strengths. Simpson felt she had been given a tremendous amount of information to digest in a very short time, to improve this i would try and make the orientation program a full day process. This way Simpson would feel that each point of information was covered completely and she had time to process it.
Simpson wasn't sure which parts of the information she had been given, that needed to be known right away. I would improve this by mentioning which would be crucial and beneficial to know on your first few days. I would also print out the ones that would be beneficial to know but not as crucial. This way Simpson would start her job with the right information and she wouldn't be forgetful when she started.
After the orientation process, Simpson felt anxious about her impending job responsibilities. To improve this I would recommend, a collaborative consultation with all relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate information is passed onto all employees and follow-up consultation is planned and implemented during the probation and orientation period. This way Simpson will not feel anxious about her new job responsibilities.
Simpson wasn't told who too contact if she had further questions or queries. I would improve this by recommending the manager of employee relations print out a sheet with contact information and pass it on to all employees. This way the employees will be able to contact the relevant employees if they had any further question or queries.
Once these recommendations are implemented, BANTEX'S orientation program will have no fault in its process.
