Beginning at Phil Mechanic studios located in the art district I made my way through the exhibits. I spoke with artist, discovered common grounds, and asked questions about works I connected to. With an open mind I descended the stairs to the lowest level and there was shift in the air. I entered into the section belonging to an artist by the name of Kris Lars. I immediately fall in love with several pieces. As I looked I felt drawn to a particular piece across the room. The walk over was the beginning of experiencing the work. As you approached different details show. The piece to be looked in totality must be seen from many angles. The left half of the painting portrays a very different message than the right. The left is noticeable because of the large woman character that dominates the piece. She is done in what appears to be pen and charcoal, her form filled in contrasting strongly against the faded white around her. Her strong facial features strike an observer almost instantly. Children in several counties had a frigid, fun day in the snow, throwing snowballs, building snowmen and making delicious snow cream for a cold treat. However, the storm affected more than just Buncombe County, it covered most of the East Coast with a beautiful blanket of white. Though the sights of it were praised, problems began to arise and the snow showed that it was a sweet deceit of enjoyment and frustration. During Thanksgiving, many flights are taking place around the country. The snow storm arrived with clouds full of precipitation causing flight delays and cancelations. Some flights had people arriving at their destination, however the anger was evident because they were late but there were a few unlucky ones that don't get to go home to spend Turkey Day with loved ones since the storm is too dangerous to fly.
