Bsn Degree vs Adn Degree

...Nurses play a vital role in health care settings. There are long discussions regarding the competencies of baccalaureate-degree level and associate degree or diploma level. Both ADN’s and BSN nurses can work as registered nurses, but there are differences in their competencies. Nursing went through many evolutionary process of formal education. Florence Nightingale, Mary Adelaide Nutting bought revolutionary changes in nursing with the importance of education. Following Word war-II due to acute shortage of nurse, Mildred Montag created 2 year associate degree in nursing. It was a temporary solution and ADN‘s were working as “technical nurses” . As it was less expensive and short period of study to become registered nurse, it became popular. ADN’s mainly focused on secondary settings, community hospitals and long term care facilities. Why we need nurses to obtain BSN degree? As needs of our patients are changing, to overcome health care setting as it is shifting from hospital centered inpatient to primary and preventing care in community. BSN degree level nurses has adequate knowledge and skills .The baccalaureate degree is more detailed course of 4 year which mainly focuses on critical thinking, leadership , management and community nursing. American Nurses Association has considered BSN degree as basic education level to get started into nursing practice (ANA 1965). Several researches show that the level of education plays an important role in optimal patients’...

...headquarters. Realising that she has no telecom experience whatsoever, the CEO asks her to work on a report on the sector over the weekend and email it to him on Monday. The lady does exactly that - and she does it so well that she gets the job. "The kind of research and analysis she did over a weekend was amazing. Only an MBA could do that," says the CEO - who never went to B-school himself. Every head honcho wants an MBA - to hire one, that is - even those heads of corporations who never came close to a B-school classroom. Indeed, the chief executives of many of India's most valuable companies didn't need that degree that's so coveted today to step into the corner room. Over two-thirds of the CEOs of the 30 companies that make up the benchmark index on the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Sensex, do not have an MBA, although a few did attend short management programmes at prestigious universities like Harvard and Wharton. The non-MBAs boast a delightful melange of qualifications. There are a lot of engineers, a sprinkling of doctorates, chartered accountants, cost accountants - and even an MA in English among these 30. There are only three Indian management graduates and a handful who have degrees from foreign universities. Another surprise - none of the Sensex companies is led by a graduate from any of the IIMs. Two of the Indian management grads are from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and one has a PG Diploma from IIT Delhi. Degrees Don't Matter "Five years after...

Adn vs Bsn

...Benefits of Achieving a BSN Degree This paper was difficult for me to start as I know many ADN who are very knowledgeable in their profession. Several of my floor’s resource or charge nurses are associate degree nurses, who are also certified to our floor. So, being fairly new to their nursing field, it is hard to imagine that my BSN degree will make me more competent than those that are heading our floor nurses. I had spoken with my manager about my concerns. After our talk, she promised that with time comes experience. Also, that completing a four year degree will not only advance me educationally and give me more insight to the nursing profession, but help me to develop understanding of situations quicker and take a role to lead the team to success. Leadership seems to be an important difference between the ADN versus BSN. The two year nursing program is learning the basics. We covered the material needed to be successful floor nurses, but honestly, we never were taught how to be leaders. I like to be a leader, to demonstrate skills, and help educate others. How successful will I be at that if I have never been properly trained? This thought was one important reason I decided to continue my education. I want to be as successful as I can be, and I feel only having an associate degree is short changing myself, when I have the potential to become more. Something I was told before I ever attended college is that one thing that cannot be taken away from you is...
