How is love presented in Astrophel and Stella?

In Astrophel and Stella love is presented in various ways, within sonnet 1 love is presented as passionate as well as unrequited. As Astrophel is expressing his love for Stella but she is not taking any notice. Astrophel is trying to get Stella to notice him through his poetry, he hopes that the poetry will visualise Astrophels affection for Stella and therefore make them both fall in love.” Loving in truth, and fain in verse my love to show, that she (dear She) might take some pleasure of my pain” here Astrophel explains how he is writing these sonnets so that he can try to get the attention of Stella. Astrophel demonstrates how eager he is by using the word “fain”, this shows the reader that Astrophel Is clearly passionate with his lover for Stella as he cannot wait to show her. As well as this, Astrophel has used lists to express his desperation for Stella. The list used in sonnet 1 again demonstrate Astrophels desperation for Stella. At the end of sonnet 1 astrophel tells the reader how passionate his love is as he says “look in thy heart and write.” Astrophel tells the reader that he feels to get the attention of Stella all he need to do is look in to his heart as he feels that his heart will describe his true love for Stella. however later in the later sonnet 39 we see that Astrophel is battling between in his heart and his mind which might be why he has not been able to get the attention of Stella yet.
In sonnet 39 Astrophel tells the reader how he is trying to go to sleep. The reason for this is so he can be at peace as in his sleep Astrophel see’s Stella, which makes him feel content. At the beginning of the sonnet Astrophel calls sleep to come to him and put him at peace. “Come sleep! O sleep, the certain knot of peace” immediately we see that Astrophel is calling “sleep” which he feels is a “certain knot
