The film Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner, was directed by Zacharias Kunuk in 2000. This is a story of an Igloolik community of 1200 people, located on a small island in the north Baffin region of the Canadian Arctic (“Atanarjuat,” n.d). This film is speaks to the significance of storytelling that is found in the Inuit cultures, as a way of renewing their values and knowledge for the future generations. The story revolves around an Inuit legend named Atanarjuat, who protects his community from evil through forgiveness and love.
