Audie Murphy Audie Murphy is one of the most influential figures in our history because he was the most decorated soldier in World War ll and even France and Belgium gave him bravery awards, also he killed 240 german soldiers.
Early Life
Audie Murphy was born in Kingston Texas, on June 20, 1925. (Source 1) Murphy's dad's name was Emmett Berry Murphy and his mother's maiden name was Josie Bell Killian. (Source 5) Murphy had 11 other siblings not including himself. (Source 1) Murphy got his name from the men who took care of his mom. (Source 5) When Audie turned 12 he got a job to support his family. (Source 5) When Murphy was 15 his dad left him and his family. (Source 1) Audie wanted to join the marines and the paratroopers,but they wouldn't allow it because he was to small. Though his abilities were more advanced than a baby.(Source 3) When Murphy was 19 his best friend was killed by a German soldier which angered Murphy a lot, so he used that anger to kill all the Germans that helped kill his best friend. (Source 1) After noticing his skills in combat, officers that were in the military quickly promoted him to corporal. (Source 1) One brave thing that Audie did during WWll was that he got on top of the truck which was on fire and shot the machine gun that was on the truck to killed around 30 German soldiers. (Source 2) When Audie Murphy was in the military for 2 years and during that time he killed around 250 German soldiers. (Source 2) Audie saw the deaths of many German soldiers, and sadly the death of his own soldiers, one of them was his best friend.
