COMMUNICATION
A little Coppermine that's situated in Chile, experienced a cave in that caused a total of thirty-three miners to be trapped underground August 5, 2010. The miners were trapped without sufficient oxygen, water, or food; no one knew for sure if the miners would stay alive. These miners were stuck underground for four tiring days; there was nothing that even suggested that any of the miners were still alive. There is no precedence of this event in which miners survive being caught below the ground for a long time (Yang, 2010). As luck would have it, all of the tears shed by the miners loved ones; were replaced by pure astonishment when all thirty-three of the miners were found and saved without any of their lives being lost.

On one, no matter what the situation is ever thinks that something like the event above could take place, until it does. The company is responsible for contacting the families of everyone trapped underground; the company must also inform their other employees. This type of situation is not something that people are prepared for. This form of communication must be handled very carefully by means of the addressees to remember. There will be some thoughtfulness to keep in mind specifying the diverse positions and persons in the addressees.

This paper will discuss some of the possible requirements of the relatives of the mining workers on getting a communication regarding this specific event. This paper will likely discuss the actuations an individual has to make before and after the communication is conveyed in order to know that the message was accepted as wished for.

As stated previously, a bit of thought should be remembered by the person

corresponding with the families of the miners, on this issue for the reasons of the dissimilar functions and persons in the addressees. When the thoughtfulness of the addressee is not

Audience Analysis

...Audience Analysis and Reception Brittany Sandoval XBCOM/275 Mark Dockter 5/30/2014 I think the most important step to writing a formal paper is to be aware of the characteristics and needs of the audience. Knowing the characteristics and potential needs of the audience allows me to determine the appropriate tone, vocabulary, structure, and content. Currently I am preparing to write a formal paper to be presented to the management at my workplace. Giving a presentation to management often can be an intimidating task, considering the levels of knowledge managers typically possess. Even though they are management they do not know everything. Therefore, it is important to have a clue as to what their level of knowledge is on the specifics of my report. It is important that I make sure all my information is accurate, and that my sources are credible. If the data in my report is not accurate and up-to-date it could have a negative impact on my image and credibility as a business professional. “When you’re faced with an opportunity to give a formal presentation, pitch a product, present research findings, run a meeting, conduct a morning huddle, acknowledge outstanding employees, or motivate your team in difficult times, view that speaking situation as a chance to...

...Audience Analysis Sherrie Anderson Com/285 April 21, 2012 Linda Burr Audience Analysis Speaking in front of a group takes steps the speaker needs to do to prepare the presentation. Audience analysis is one way a speaker can prepare the presentation’s effectiveness. The speaker must explore the different characteristics of the target audience. In the case of a quarterly sales meeting, the audience includes managers, salespeople, and customers. The speaker breaks down the audience characteristics and what demographics make up the analysis. This would include professional and nonprofessional. The speaker must also consider what channel of communication to use at the presentation to ensure meeting the expectations of the audience. This channel can be formal or informal. Formal communication is organized and managed. The information is shared with relevant people within the organization. Informal communication is used within the organization and not used with informational meetings outside the organization. Audience Characteristics The speaker must make sure every member of the audience can understand his or her presentation. The speaker can do this by having a clear understanding of the unique needs of the audience. The speaker must know of any similarities and differences in the audience. Stakeholders First consider who the stakeholders are. In the case of a quarterly sales meeting, the stakeholders are managers, salespeople, and customers. This...

Listening Audience

...Shawna Sapp Sapp 1 Listening Audience Essay 2/4/14 SPC2017 Ms. Sullivan Throughout my career, I have attended many meetings and functions, each having different topics or atmospheres. Generally, I focus on the speakers or material, more than what the listening audience does. My experiences with these types of events were peaceful and without conflict. I had never thought watching people listen would give me any information on anything. However, I recently attended a meeting I was looking forward to watching the audience. I recently began working for a new agency, an agency that has many conflicts between management and employees; there have even been grievances filed. It is because of this I chose to observe the listening audience of a meeting we held in our Jacksonville office on December 31, 2013. This meeting had me interested in the audience due to the variety of speakers we had, from management to Union representatives and because we were addressing resolution of issues. As I began reading the Human Communication textbook, I was able to relate what I was reading in chapter 4 to what I had seen. Often, the importance of listening is taken for granted; we hear things throughout the day without even noticing. We listen to friends, family, and nature; whatever it may, be we hear it without thinking about it. This is such an unconscious occurrence we sometimes forget how important it is not to just hear but really listen. To appreciate the importance of listening...

...Audience Analysis Jordan Pappas COM/285 February 13th, 2011 Randi Plante Audience Analysis Giving a presentation in any situation is very intimidating, being properly prepared for the meeting can make all the difference in whether or not you get the proper information across to the audience, ask yourself who the audience is that will be attending the presentation? Is there going to be any sort of language barriers? And what information is the most appropriate to present? Something o consider about the audience is how much do they already know about what will be briefed in the presentation? By providing to much information you will find that the audience will start to get bored and you will lose their attention. By getting people involved int the presentation it doesn't give them much of a chance to get restless and it actively keeps them engaged and listening to what is being presented to them. This can also help them retain the information When tasked to give a presentation for your company it is important first consider who the audience is going to be. By knowing who will be attending, this allows you to prepare properly for the group that will be there. If giving a presentation to stakeholders or possible investors, making sure you information is on point and correct can make it or break it for the future of the company. Businesses are constantly looking to expand and out source to other countries so this brings a lot of diversity to the way we do our business...

...Seyed Danyal Banihashemi COM 1010 Marta Natalia Lukacovic February 22, 2015 Audience Analysis #1 When in it comes to giving speeches or showing presentations, it is always important to know who your audience is. This online class shows a person many ways on how to encounter your audience in order to analyze them before giving a presentation. In order to find out more about your audience, presentations have been conducted online and various students have showed their ability as well as their character through the Engagement Activities. The audience as person, individually, has their own unique sense and opinions about a particular topic when it comes to a point where they are to watch and listen to a specific topic that they may or may not know about. The speech that we all have to perform next week will have to be an informative speech. Initially, I have short-listed many topics when it came to performing this speech as it had to be both factual, important, and also interesting. I finally decided that I want to present my speech about “Piracy and Counterfeit Goods in Iran”. Most of us have already been affected and know already about piracy is our own country, but I want to focus in on a specific country where it has not been outlawed and the reasons to why it has not been achieved as of yet. Everyone has their own views on what could be interesting to them regarding this topic. It could be the reason that it is still allowed and the police and other forces of power are...

The customers, stakeholders, salespersons and managers are those in this paper I will address as the audience. In this paper I will identify how the audience of different diversity backgrounds would be addressed in a business presentation, and how one would consider their knowledge to further one’s own business organization through analysis. You must consider the audience of communication when constructing a presentation. In order for a meeting to have the full potential one deserves, you must take regard to the structure of writing, and the creation of the design that would uphold the presentation’s foundation. When designing a presentation one must first consider the audience one is presenting. Audience Analysis

...Audience Analysis Communication is the most important aspect concerning the business world. Natural Stone Designs Company has called for a quarterly sales information presentation with an in-person meeting containing a group of stakeholders, including managers, salespeople, and customers. Proper audience analysis will assure that the speaker gives the right speech to the right audience. In order to be an effective speaker one must perform an audience analysis. The analysis will consist of character analysis, communication channels, and how to make the message effective. Finding who the audience is and how many will be attending will set the speaker on the right track. A good way to gather information about the audience is to send a questionnaire to the clients or audience. Another good way is to create an audience analysis slide. After conversations with people from the meeting fill in details helping to keep track of what one knows and what the speaker still needs to collect. Start preparing far enough so one is not rushed for time giving time to rehearse. Find out their knowledge about the subject. Then consider the characteristics of the audience such as educational background, age, and sex; know what the audience is expecting. The next thing to do is for the speaker to be sure where he or she will be standing and that everyone can hear. Feeling relaxed will aid in a better speech and always be sure to make eye contact with the audience. This will also...

We also would like our children to be happier in their lives than we are in ours. Speaker Credibility: I began my journey into fatherhood on 15 February 2007. For the last 6 years I have been struggling with the balance between trying to raise a happy child, while developing a mind of functioning member of society. Presentational Aid: I will be using the mastermind Soundwave, the brains behind the evil decepticons. I will attempt to transform him from vehicle state to humanoid form and return him to vehicle state, while keeping eye contact with the audience. Demonstarting my ability to multi-task, while displaying my expertise as a child playmate. Audience Connection: To some extent, all of us enjoy pictures of our memorable times (as my audience analysis reveals), and quite often we don’t do anything with the pictures after they are developed. Many people mentioned (in the audience analysis) that they store photos in a drawer or shoe box. My speech offers an alternative. Even if someone is not creative, this is an easy hobby - just about anyone can do it…and it is fun! Speaker Credibility: I was on my high school yearbook staff as editor for 2 years, and in that time I learned the true value of a photograph. From that point on, I began taking pictures of everything, but I never did anything with them. Then I discovered...

Persuading an Audience

You want to elicit the audience's aspiration for your product. PROMISING YOUR BUYERS Focus on the budding and promising customer, not your product. You can't compel people to buy. Regrettably, some of you might declare. Elicit their emotions Tell your customers / audiences how his or her life will change and develop after purchasing your product. Take an example: you are selling “Isotonic energy boosters”, tell them how fantastic you'll feel every day using these energy booster drinks. Describe it. Audience Analysis

...Audience Analysis Effective communication in the business world must be mastered in order to strive in a competitive market. XYZ Companies has called an in-person meeting with a group of stakeholders including managers, salespeople, and customers to address quarterly sales. In order to communicate effectively with the group, an audience analysis must be done to capture the audience’s attention. This paper is intended to analyze the audience’s characteristics, communication channels and various ways to deliver an effective message. The speaker must be able to realize the quarterly sales report may mean different things to different groups in the audience. A speaker must make preparations when dealing with a diversity filled audience (Locker, Kienzler, 2008). When dealing with a vast number of people a speaker must be willing to do his or her research to better understand the audience and the needs to the group. The speaker must also be able to maintain control of the audience. By allowing questions and feedback at certain times in the meeting process can avoid the speaker from losing total control of the meeting. Knowledge of where the company is and where the company needs to be will play a part in whether or not the meeting is a success. For example, if the quarterly sales show the XYZ Company is failing to meet expected goals, if the speaker is prepared, he or she may be able to satisfy the audience with preparations for the future. Knowing what each member of the audience...

Audience Analysis

...Audience Analysis Victor Cruz 11/13/2010 COM/285 Audience Analysis Communication to multiple audiences is a difficult task. It is important to first analyze what interests, values, and goals appeal to the audience even which they have in common. Determine who are the decision-makers immediately so that their attention is focus to getting them interested in the presentation. The audience is going to be diverse in many different aspects so make sure to use bias-free language. The different members of the audience might appeal to different aspects of the presentation so make sure it appeals to everyone involved. A positive-emphasis presentation that avoids using negative words will also help get everyone involved in the presentation. Audiences will be both professional and non-professional. The non-professional audiences such as the customers are not going to know much about the data involved with the presentation. They might not even show much interest as well. So it is important to make sure to make the presentation interesting and entertaining to the customers. The executives who are the decision-makers probably will about the same understanding as do the customers about the information being provided. Make sure the presentation relays a certain cause of the something and a certain effect as well. The executives want to be simple and to the point. Audience Characteristics

...Audience Communication Audiences can be categorised by many different characteristics – those features that make them different to other people. It is important to keep the characteristics and needs of your audience in mind. Business communications that require an audience will have professionals with different knowledge and interest levels. General characteristics of any audience will always be age, gender, sex, and language skills. These characteristics will also define the diversity of the audience. To communicate an effective presentation to a general audience the presenter must not assume that all members of the audience speak fluent English, have the same knowledge and skill levels. Most presentations to a general audience will try to use an “all things for all people approach (Locker & Kienzler, 2008). This approach will end up under serving the general audience because of its broad assumptions and lack of detail to any specific characteristic. To effectively communicate to a group the presenter must analyse his or her audience as a group not as individuals (Locker & Kienzler, 2008). Demographic and psychographic characteristics will need to be analysed. Demographic characteristics will tell the presenter where his or her audience lives and the combination of demographic, psychographic profiles of the audience. Psychographic characteristics focus on the qualitative traits of the audience. Such traits will include values, beliefs, goal and lifestyles...

Touching on each of the above factors, this author knows who the audiences are and they are the company’s stakeholders. The author now knows that he has to present the quarterly sales information, not just effectively but with precision. The author must tell the stakeholders the honest truth of the company’s quarterly number even if it’s not pleasant. This is important because what he presents to them will impact what actions or non-action the stakeholders will conduct in months after the presentation. The audience knows about the subject; therefore, the author must be careful not to use words or lead the audience to something...
