Sport Autobiography Throughout an early age I always took an interest too sports. I played numerous sports from an early age such as soccer, basketball, football and baseball. My parents Deborah and
Jeffrey enrolled me in sports at the age of 5. They thought it would be a great idea to make new friends and such which it has because to this day most of my best friends are guys I played sports with. When I was young the main sports I took an interest in was soccer, basketball and baseball.
To this day I still play all those respected sports in men’s league and such. I played in numerous pee wee leagues and stuff until I was too old and had to move on too school sports. Throughout my time in Pee Wee and stuff I won numerous awards and trophies that I still have to this day. Going to School where I was a member of the Men’s varsity soccer team, Men’s varsity basketball team and Men’s varsity baseball team all as a freshmen. Having to play on these teams at such a young age was very tough for me at first but I learned to deal with it and just play through it all. Throughout soccer games as a freshmen I would get muscled off the ball and picked on a lot because I was 13 years old going up against 17 year olds and the maturity and physical level was completely different than what I was used too. I ended up starting my first game and never looked back and ended up going all-league which too me was a big deal because I was 13 years old thinking “hey I can play with these guys”. I never looked back and ended up becoming one of the schools all-time leading goal scorers in history and a member of 4 league championships (2001-2004), a county championship (2002), Long Island championship (2002) and my most prestigious award “State Champion 2002”. Now going on to playing basketball in my high school wasn’t as prestigious as playing soccer because soccer was on a higher pedigree then basketball was but, I wanted to change that before I graduated and I did. And I had the same problem in basketball as I did in soccer with the maturity and physicality but I fought through it and won numerous awards. I was part of the fabulous freshmen. I won numerous awards going from All-league to All-county. The one award
I was upset I didn’t get was All-long island. But my goal was to change a program that was god awful to a very competitive team and by the time I was a senior we were competing on all fronts.
My senior year we were 1 game away from heading to Stony Brook University to play in the
Suffolk county championships. I was 2nd all-time leading scorer until a young man named Evan
Maxwell took that away from me. But I did what I set out to do. Playing Varsity baseball from a coach like Sal Ciampi was a big deal in East Islip. He was a decorated coach who has done a lot for the program of baseball and football. He took me under his wing as a freshmen and installed me right away as a starter. I started for him my frosh and soph years until my junior. At the time I was going to go to school to play basketball, he once told me I couldn’t play basketball at all during the spring ( which keep in mind is a big recruiting period for basketball) because he didn’t want me to get hurt. I understood but I couldn’t not play basketball so I eventually had to quit and that ended our friendship as a coach to player and friend to friend. For me, one of the players I looked up too since I was little was Derek Jeter. The reason I looked up to him is because how he handled himself around everything and never was one for the spotlight. He kept to himself a lot and just played the game they only way he knew how too.
He was a winner and fought his tail off at all times and he is one of my hero’s I look up too in the sport world. My father was and is still to this is my role model throughout. He pushed me from when I was little to go out and pursue everything and I greatly appreciate everything he has done for me. I was always afforded great opportunities to play the sports I loved because of him. Too me, there wasn’t a lot of negative affects of sports because I always did what I had to do when I was in school, if it was classes, girlfriends, meetings and such.. I always did what I had to do to get done. Sports in my life is such a positive influence in my life to this day, and if I knew what I did now and understand the life of sports I would of changed everything I did when
I was back in high school because who knows where I would be right now. Sports introduced me too a new life and I cant be more grateful for it, formed close-knit bonds with my best friends to this day. The quote I live by now and wished I lived by before was “ Don’t take anything for
granted”.
