Today’s market is filled with businesses that are looking into automated systems to perform their everyday tasks. Automated systems can substitute the expenditure and time consuming processes that were to be completed by hand but still providing companies with precise data. In most cases, the automated systems allowed for even more accurate readings and data than only using by hand procedures. One automated system that is becoming more attractive than any other business system is the automated inventory system. This system is used to track the merchandise and goods of grocery stores and other stores that need to keep track of individual item tracking. In this paper I will talk a little bit about the background of automated inventory systems. I will provide some of the costs of these systems and how they can work properly to achieve business goals. The automated systems are very good to use for clothing stores as well. Automated inventory systems play a huge role in business today. They have really helped with retail businesses. This is because businesses want the capability to access and categorize data in a quick and competent manner. With an automated inventory system, businesses can count on computers to do every day jobs that were once performed manually, such as inventory checks and product sale tracking. These tasks can be very stressful for businesses to do manually because of their size, number of stores, and their product diversity. These stressful things can be taken care of with the use of the automated systems. With automated inventory systems these processes can be handled in a more timely method and also be more accurate and consistent than ever before. Automated Inventory Systems are a particular type of software that allows businesses to input their inventory and track the products that are sold, returned, and

...Plan for Automating an Inventory System Tiffany N. Sommers Strayer University (Winter 2016) Instructor: Dr. Stephen Huber Plan for Automating an Inventory System During a conversation at the dinner table, I learned my sisters frustration with having to manually track and reorder high demand items. She wants to upgrade to an automated system using a small budget. Making a plan that fits her budget in this economy is going to be tough but is very manageable. If you look at businesses in the market, then one should know that a business should be able to adapt to change and provide a service that is fast and reliable. We are going to be taking my sisters manual tracking and ordering system to an updated automated system. In order to make her store automated we will have to go on a shopping spree and purchase the hardware for the automated inventory system. Since we are on a budget we will look at the main things that will be needed. Hardware is a major part of automating her business. Hardware consist of a computer or laptop, an operating system, keyboard, router, mouse, and external hardware (i.e. printer, fax, and copier). My assumption is that she does not have any of this so we are starting from scratch. After purchasing and setting up the hardware she will need we will move on to the next step, Software upgrades and requirements. Software can be simple or it can be complicated. It can also be costly if you are not careful. If we go with the more expensive route...

“the Effects of Road Traffic Congestion on Residential Decision- Making of Inhabitants of the City of Accra- a Case Study of Communities Along Three Congested Routes”

...Topic: “The effects of road traffic congestion on residential decision- making of inhabitants of the city of Accra- A case study of communities along three congested routes” Transportation is essentially a response to the mobility needs of people, and this must be done in a timely fashion in order for people to realize its full benefits. Consequently, transportation plays a crucial role in the socio-economic and politico-cultural development of people and their communities. However, there are some related problems (such as congestion, mobility gaps, urban sprawl, and emissions amongst others) that come with it. In Ghana, transportation is almost synonymous with road transport as it is the major means by which peoples’ mobility needs are answered on daily basis. Road traffic congestion in the city of Accra has almost become an’ acceptable norm’ since residents have to live with this phenomenon every passing day of their lives. The factors responsible for this trend are as follows: growth in the population of Accra over the last 15 years (and this has been estimated to double in the next 20 years) associated with a continuing trend of reduction in population density; expansion in built-up area; growth in per capital income (which has also been estimated to have increased five folds over the last 15 years) with a concomitant increase in car ownership. Currently over 70% of major roads in Accra and Kumasi-the two biggest cities in the country- are said to be congested and should the...

...DESIGNING AN INVENTORY SYSTEM WEEK 2 – ASSIGNMENT 1 INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Designing an effective inventory system for a small business can have a rewarding effect on a business with proper planning and implementation to provide employees and management a way to manage inventory. Having a proper plan in place it will save the company money, time, and provide a balances way of having stock available for customer. Assigning product code numbers on clothing merchandise upon delivery from vendors allow the item to be accounted for and to re-ordered the item and ensure that it will always be in stock and not create overstock that hurts company profit. Not meeting customer demands for a product by not keeping it in stock lessens the chance of repeat customers. There are a few disadvantages to having an automated inventory system such as human error due to inventory not being logged properly, software issues such as power outages, and software errors. Viruses and hacking can be an issue as well. Providing a backup of the inventory is a great way to ensure no total loss of inventory information. Policy and Procedures will need to be developed for employees and management to ensure everyone is being consistent with documenting inventory and to reduce errors. A case study done on the Herman Goelitz Candy Co. showed the difference having an automated inventory system had on the operations of the company. By utilizing this time of inventory control it gave them greater control...

...System Analysis and Design Tony Eary October 20, 2012 Ibrahim Elhag– Instructor Strayer University Inventory Management Systems The necessary equipment for creating a low-cost automated inventory system would be a Rockwell Automation Printed Circuit Board, Wireless Antennas Cable with Circuit Board, Microcontroller Unit PIC18F4550, Handheld MC9190 G-Mobile Computer, and IR Remote Toggle Switch Kit, Bar Codes, and Personal Computer. The system I would want to create would be automated and run off wireless and IR signals where there will be some manual check, but the automated would be in place and manual is just to double-check on the automated system. There can be a lag in automated systems so there would be the need for manual checking in case the automated isn’t up to date because the last thing anyone wants is to be without what’s needed and then have to order it. The customer wouldn’t be happy and makes the business look bad at the same time. There will be an automated inventory system comprising of at least one bin configured to contain a plurality of stocked items, a platform configured to support the bin, a wireless circuit associated with each said platform and a wireless reader device having at least one microcontroller unit. The wireless reader device may be configured to read a wireless signal transmitted by the wireless circuit upon completion of printed circuit board. The printed circuit board includes a switch configured to selectively complete...

...INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Joshua Crisp Prof. Raman Marwah CIS210 10 October, 2012 Manually tracking items in a store can be a waste of time and money. Most small businesses today use some type of automated inventory system that automatically updates inventory after point of sale (POS). This is especially important on high demand items that need to be reordered in a timely matter. First we need to look at the equipment, cost, and maintenance involved in adding an automated business system to the store. The vendor I choose was Wasp Barcode Technology Systems. EQUIPMENT First, we will look at the equipment necessary to implement a new inventory management system. To keep it simple we will need: * Software * UPC barcode printer * Labels * Scanner The software will tie into the POS system and automatically track sales, returns, and inventory levels. The software I suggest will alert you when inventory levels are low and need to be reordered. Every product will have a barcode that tells the software an item has been removed from the inventory or added to the inventory. Initially we will have to load the software with data about what products are associated with each barcode and print the barcodes to attach to the products. The scanner will be used to tell the software what items are being purchased or inventoried. COST After identifying what equipment we will use we can see how much the equipment and implementation will cost. * People-...

...Assignment 1: Inventory Management Systems CIS 210 Prof. Souza April 16, 2014 In this paper I’m going to describe how I can come up with a plan to run automated inventory system on a low budget, for a retail clothing store. In detail I will describe the necessary equipment that it takes to run such a project. Also, I will be explaining the overall cost and the maintenance that is required to run the system properly. First off, we need to purchase an inventory management system. According to Inflow, (2014) over 300,000 small businesses use Inflow inventory. Joelle Krummenacher a uniform retailer states “I recommend it to any small business that needs software to manage all their inventory and orders with a limited budget.” For this software you have a choice to download it for free or pay $299 for the regular edition, which I recommend because you can read and write your data. To execute this plan fully, you would also need to purchase a barcode scanner, barcode printer, and labels. According to Barcodesinc.com, (2014) a barcode scanner cost $74, labels $18.00 and a high speed label printer with built in Ethernet and wireless cost $195, making this project total cost come to $586 dollars. Although this sounds good but, maintenance is required to keep this system running smooth. Wireman, (2014) states this catalog is not used for planning, since the on-hand or order information would be dated. But the catalog allows maintenance...

I would have to ask them what they want to achieve with having the automated inventory system. I would also have to figure out what their budget is for it as there are different levels of systems depending on the budget of the company. The budget would have to include buying the system itself as well as the maintenance of the system. One of the things that would be needed in the inventory management system...
