But another idea along with that expansion is adding Siri to very many popular brands of cars. One of the main drawbacks may be that in order to have Siri installed, the car is also going to require a reliable connection and a well-stocked server. Adding Siri can somewhat reduce prices of the cars such as the factory add-on of a navigation system that adds on thousands of dollars to retail price. It also has very many technological benefits. They are trying to take away some of the distracting parts that cause car accidents by turning some of those simple car functions into voice command. Some other points that they try and make are that voice commands might not be visually distracting but they are cognitively distracting. We can talk to objects and hear the responses, which may be better than having your phone in your hand but talking can still distract you. This article does seem like a reliable source because it came from the NY Times which is a very well-known newspaper. It is also current because it states that it appeared in print June 18, 2012 on page B4 with headline: Apple and Siri in Driver’s Seat. This research is kind of both, biased and objective. Grobart gives us information from the Apple conferences and personal opinions, which make the facts given well documented. The author for this article is Sam Grobart. He was a writer for the New York Times then became Senior Correspondent at Bloomberg Businessweek. To me that makes him very qualified in this type of writing.
