Babe Ruth was a baseball legend, he was so amazing at what he did and so great that many people still admire him as one of the best baseball players ever. He had amazing batting averages and had a pretty long baseball career. He is the most paid baseball player ever in baseball. Babe Ruth was born in the Baltimore Maryland area. By the time he was 7 years old he was chewing tobacco, drinking liquor, and taunting police. Finally his parents, Katherine Schamberger, and George Herman Ruth Senior, finally had enough they sent George to St. Mary’s Industrial School in Baltimore, a school run by monks, and an institution for underprivileged boys. When he started out with the Red Sox, he was just a pitcher. But saying he was just a pitcher doesn’t show how great a pitcher he was. He won 23 games in two different seasons with Boston, and the Red Sox won three world championships when he played for them. The Red Sox figured out that he was one of the best hitting pitchers in the league. Because Babe wanted to play every day, he learned how to play the outfield. In 1919, he set a new major league record for home runs in a season when he hit 29 of them. He was sold to the New York Yankees before the 1920 baseball season, and he hit 54 home runs that year. While he was with the Yankees, he set many career records. He hit the most career home runs in major league history, at least until 1974. He still holds the record for the most games hitting more than one home run. He even has an award named after him, the Babe Ruth Award. According to Wikipedia, “The Babe Ruth Award is given annually to the Major League Baseball player with the best performance in the postseason.” Overall he was a great baseball batter and
