The Habits of Good Students and Bad Students

...The habits of good students and bad students I always believe that the key to an effective study is to learn and adopt good study habits. The difference between good students or bad students depends on how they apply and develop study habits that could help them to study efficiently and effectively. Good students always enjoy some of the great habits that help them to be more productive. The first habit is focusing in the class. That is considered one of the greatest habits to adopt. Because they can learn more, decrease the time of study out the class, take notes and participate with others. The second habit is studying in groups. Students in groups can exchange their notes, reduce distractions if they were studying alone, and learn from each other when they struggle to understand concepts. The third habit is to set a study plan from the first day of school. They always prepare and organize their materials; they prioritize the most important tasks and manage enough time to study before tests. On the other hand, bad students always struggle from the habit of procrastinating and plan to work up to a deadline. This habit causes stress, and make students panic to focus and study. In addition, bad students don’t minimize lifestyle distraction. They don’t pick a quiet environment to study or full of distractions such as technology. Moreover, another bad habit is to study all night and go to school with no sleep. Finally, the most important...

...education because you are going to do whatever it takes to complete your goals eliminating all your bad habits and improving your weaknesses. You have to seek solutions and develop a plan to complete your education. According with the article “Importance of personal responsibility” (2003-20013), personal responsibility is an obligation to our self. It means putting a stop to blaming others and admitting and accepting that “I am responsible”. I like this definition, but for me, personal responsibility is a combination of various factors that you experienced in your childhood, youth and adulthood. Factors such as discipline, organization and good habits could have a big influence when you are taking important decisions. You have the responsibility of your actions, accepting the consequences that come from those actions taken. You have to understand that everything you do have an impact in all the people around you. Personal responsibility is what makes you an adult and not a child any more. You have control or your actions. We never said that personal responsibility was an easy task to accomplish. Study Habits

...subject matter is a lot harder to understand than you thought it would be, and all of a sudden there’s no time left to ask someone to explain it to you. If you’re a student attending classes, you have probably experienced many moments when it was hard to make yourself settle down and study, even when an important exam was coming up. If you’re like most students, you put off studying until the very last minute. The night before the exam, you’ll stay up all night cramming, getting little or no sleep. In the morning, you’ll drag yourself out of bed, wake yourself up with lots of coffee or sometimes some cigarettes, and go into the exam feeling exhausted, stressed out and nervous all at the same time. You’ll find it hard to focus or think, and you’ll be cursing yourself for not starting to study sooner. And not surprisingly, unless you’re blessed with natural brilliance, or you happen to know the subject matter extremely well, you’ll probably do terribly on the test. If this is your typical method of studying, you already know it doesn’t work. Every time you go through this ritual, you tell yourself that you’re going to smarten up the next time you face a big exam. Next time you’ll start to study weeks in advance, you say. But instead, you keep repeating this crazy pattern. Why does this keep...

...A. Introduction Effective study habits are necessary for a college student to excel academically. The student must develop these habits in order to retain information learned in the present for future benefit. There is one best way to study, therefore, techniques can be tailored to the needs of the student to achieve the most optical result (Blain,2008). However, diagnostic testing is also available to assist students in assessing their weaknesses in their behaviors and study habits. Research has shown that effective study habits lead to improved academic performance (Moseena, 2010). The habits that students develop during their college years will remain with them long after graduation and will be reflected in their performance in the workforce (Blain,2008). Good study habits and academic performance have to accomplish great success in any level of education. By learning good study habits students tend to perform better than struggling students (De Escobar, 2008). The grade or mark earned by a student after a period of learning is a primary indicator of his or her level of knowledge and comprehension in academic performance. Study habits were also related to age, grade point average and the number of hour spent in studying (Onwuegbuzie, 2001). Bad Eating Habits

...have a few bad eating habits, whether it be munching on a bag of potato chips when you talk on the phone or scarfing down a doughnut during break time at work. You may think that it's the taste of that chocolate doughnut that keeps your hand dipping into the doughnut box. Not necessarily so. Surprisingly, some bad eating habits persist even when food tastes bad. Bad Eating Habits Persist Even When Food Tastes Bad Researchers gave groups of people attending a movie a bucket of freshly popped popcorn or a container of stale popcorn to munch on during the show. Moviegoers who didn't regularly go to the movies ate very little of the stale popcorn because they didn't like the taste. On the other hand, those who regularly purchased popcorn at the movies ate the same amount of the crunchy snack whether it was freshly popped or stale. The habit of eating popcorn at the movies was so firmly ingrained they ate it even when it didn't taste good. Even a stale, flavorless bag of popcorn wasn't enough to change their eating habits. This study suggests that once you've formed a bad eating habit, it's likely to persist even when the experience is no longer pleasurable. Outside environmental cues such as being in a movie theater or talking on the phone can be a trigger for some eating behaviors, even more so than the taste of the food itself. How many times have you found yourself mindless munching on something without really tasting it? These automatic eating habits can become...
