Family is where we all belong to and from where our identity comes from. And a career is an individual's journey through learning, work and other aspects of life. Family and career both of them are important for our life. They have to co-exist, that makes a healthy balanced life. Managing both family and career is a responsibility and opportunity that assume us for the sake of furthering our life. Beth Sawi mentioned about a study (Marks, et al, 2001) 60 percent of working parents feel considerable conflict between work responsibilities and time spent at home and a recent survey by the Pew Research Center found the majority of full-time working moms would like to trade in their current situation for a part-time position.
In Bangladeshi perspective, it is very difficult to balance between family and career. Many people may find it very difficult to manage their career and family life. The needs of their families are important but at the same time, career is important in order to survive. These duties are an important obligation in life but we must take control of it so that we are managing our time in our careers and making sure that our families are satisfied.
Bangladesh was the first country in South Asia to achieve gender-parity in primary education. Achieving this milestone is a result of effective public policy, resource allocation and strong commitment from public and non-government sectors. For example, Female enrolment in primary schools is now 51% and in secondary schools it is now 53%, while male is 47%.
Women in Bangladesh take a huge step in the economy of Bangladesh. Between 2010 and 2013, banks and non-bank financial institutions has disbursed TK 67 billion to 57,722 women entrepreneurs from their own sources. In 2010, 13,831 women entrepreneurs received TK 18 billion; in 2011, 16,696 women entrepreneurs received TK 20 billion; and in 2012, 17,362 women entrepreneurs received TK 22 billion as SME credit. This indicates that disbursement towards women entrepreneurs has been increasing both in amount and numbers. Women entrepreneurs can get advantage of re-financing both from ADB fund and Bangladesh Bank fund.

Suggestion: * Determine Own Standards: Get rid of the notion of being a perfectionist. People should wean themselves off it by making compromises by figuring out where the best places to make the compromises are without short-changes in them, their spouse, their children, their boss, etc. * Establish Limits and Boundaries for Balancing Work and Family: Boundaries are an imaginary line of protection that we draw around ourselves. They are about protecting ourselves from other people's actions. Determine what acceptable and unacceptable behavior from other people is. Boundaries and limits define how one take charge of their time and space and get in touch with their feelings. They express the extent of one’s responsibilities and power and show others what one is willing to do or accept. Without limits it's difficult to say "no". Always remind often that boundaries are necessary for balancing work and family. * Develop clear priorities: We can make rules to clear our priorities for example, triage; or "do it," "delegate it" or "dump" it to focus on the most valuable percentage of any task. Accept that we can’t do it all and, generally, don’t need to. * Schedule your housework: Dr. Neil Fiore said “Make play and family time legitimate and guilt-free by putting it into schedule. Experiment with scheduling time for: sleep, meals, commuting, lunch and dinner with friends and family, routine meetings, leisure time, exercise, and four to 24-hour blocks of free time on weekends and holidays. Let people know when you’re available for calls and meetings. Teach co-workers to respect your time.” Schedules will help to keep balance between life and career. * Reserve the weekends for the family: If you let work — the Monday-through-Friday variety — encroach on your weekends, you're headed for misery. For example, a salesman for a marketing firm, still puts in 50- and 60-hour weeks, but he's stopped working on weekends. This free time on the weekends helps him to spend time with his family where the balance in both work and family can be kept.
