Law of Large Numbers
Observe a random variable X very many times. In the long run, the proportion of outcomes taking any value gets close to the probability of that value. The Law of Large Numbers says that the average of the observed values gets close to the mean μ X of X.

This is because Chebyshev’s inequality is a result from probability, which can then be applied to statistics.

To illustrate the inequality, we will look at it for a few values of K: * For K = 2 we have 1 – 1/K2 = 1 - 1/4 = 3/4 = 75%. So Chebyshev’s inequality says that at least 75% of the data values of any distribution must be within two standard deviations of the mean. * For K = 3 we have 1 – 1/K2 = 1 - 1/9 = 8/9 = 89%. So Chebyshev’s inequality says that at least 89% of the data values of any distribution must be within three standard deviations of the mean.

Random experiments and random variables have long-term regularities. The Law of Large Numbers says that in repeated independent trials, the relative frequency of each outcome of a random experiment tends to approach the probability of that outcome. That implies that the long-term average value of a discrete random variable in repeated experiments tends to approach a limit, called the expected value of the random variable.

The expected value of a random variable depends only on the probability distribution of the random variable. The expected value has properties that can be exploited to find the expected value of some complicated random variables in terms of simpler ones. These properties allow us to find the expected value of the sample sum and sample mean of random draws with and without replacement from a box of numbered tickets.

Dividing by the sample size is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal, 1/n, so we can use the properties of expectation to find the expected value of the sample mean from the expected value of the sample sum: The expected value of the sample mean is the expected value of the sample sum, times 1/n. Because the expected value of the sample sum is n×(average of the numbers on all the tickets in box), whether the sampling is with or without replacement, the expected value of the sample mean is the average of the numbers on all the tickets in the box, for random sampling with or without replacement.

The expected value of a random variable depends only on the probability distribution of the random variable, so we can speak interchangeably of the expected value of a random variable or of its probability distribution.

I was able to find those things in the home I selected but what I didn't realize was what the cost would be. There is a huge financial difference between a 15 year fix and a 30 year fix mortgage. For the home I selected it was a $522.76 difference in the monthly payment and a $91,271.79 difference in the amount of interest I would be paying for the life of the loan. If I was abel to afford such a hefty, monthly payment I would choose the 15 year mortgage because in the long run it would be cheaper. The lesson learned here, though, is find a more affordable house and make updates as you go along. For most patients and their families, the process of healthcare appears simple. People with illnesses are admitted into a hospital facility and a specific course of treatment is identified and the care is carried out by a team of physicians, nurses, and social workers. What is not noticed is a specialized resource team aimed at keeping all patients safe throughout the course of their hospitalization. This paper will identify how statistics are utilized in the infection prevention setting, identify one example of descriptive statistics, identify one example of inferential statistics, explain data at each of the four levels of measurement and describe the advantages of accurate interpretation of statistical information to improve decision making in the workplace.
