That night, a beastie fell from the sky, but, “it came down from the world of grownups.” (pg 95) That “beastie” was a man, dangling from a parachute, presumably killed in an air battle above. The, “lights in the sky,” (pg 95) were probably sprays of bullets from ship to ship, making the air battle likely, especially because the boys were evacuated due to a war in the first place. The man is most likely dead because it had, “dangling limbs,” (pg 95) it, “fell and crumpled,” (pg 95) and the parachute dragged it around. This is incredibly ironic because in the last chapter the boys were conversing about how if grownups were there everything would be perfect. Add they talked about everything the grownups wouldn't do, one boy said, “Or lose---,”
