There are many popular composers whose music has made a great impact on the way that music is created, performed, and listened to all around the world. Each composer has their own unique methods that they used to create their pieces. The composer and musical piece that I will analyze is "Symphony No. 3 Eroica" by Ludwig van Beethoven. This piece of work focuses on various themes and elements that help portray it into a symphony. To further explain his musical piece, it is important to do an in-depth search on the piece's background, characteristics, and key elements.
Beethoven was a very talented, dedicated, and hardworking German composer. "Widely regarded as the greatest composer who ever lived, Ludwig van Beethoven dominates a period of musical history as no one else before or since" (Knapp & Budden). This movement is in what is known as a "funeral march" which is a small and slow in key. It involves a wide range of emotion that goes from sad to happy. It is in C minor along with a C major trio. This movement starts, progresses, and ends with slow movement while lasting between fourteen to eighteen minutes long. The third form is Scherzo: Allegro Vivace and the shortest movement out of the four lasting only five to six minutes. It follows a similar emotional approach as the previous movement, and strays away from tradition at some points. This movement is more upbeat than the previous. Certain people in the orchestra play the theme and it goes from pianissimo to a fortissimo approach. The trio involves the sounds of three horns that are each played in different keys.
