Fish oil is obtainable from the consumption of fish or through supplements taking. Fish that are particularly full of the beneficial oils referred to as omega-3 comprise of mackerel, menhaden, tuna, trout, salmon, herring, sturgeon, sardines, mullet, anchovy and bluefish. Typically, fish oil supplements are made from seal blubber, mackerel, whale blubber, herring, cod liver, tuna, salmon and halibut. In most cases, fish oil supplements contain tiny amounts of vitamin E so as to avoid spoilage; however, they might also be mixed with vitamins, calcium or iron (Ellie, Linda, & Sharon, 2010).
There are numerous benefits associated with using omega 3 that is found in fish; fish oil is used in lowering blood pressure or levels of triglyceride i.e. fats related to cholesterol. Apart from that, fish oil had been tried in prevention of heart disease when took in the right amounts. Some people eat fish thereby helping them with psychosis, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, as well as other thinking disorders (Ellie, Linda, & Sharon, 2010). Furthermore, fish oil is also extremely helpful for patients with diabetes, osteoporosis, asthma, psoriasis, developmental coordination disorders, kidney disease, movement disorders, and the prevention of weight loss resulting from some cancer drugs.
Ironically, too much consumption of fish oil or high doses of supplements can actually intensify the risk of stroke; decrease the activity associated with the immune system hence decreasing the body’s ability of fighting diseases. Apart from that, fish oil increases the threat of bleeding in liver disease, while intensifying some of the signs of certain conditions (Ellie, Linda, & Sharon, 2010).
