...sfsBLUE AND RED HERP DERP Oops … she did it again! Britney Spears has found herself smack dab in the middle of another controversy pertaining to her photo spread in the December issue of Lucky, which hit the web on Friday. "The X Factor" judge dons several different relatively conservative outfits in the mag and reveals some of her fashion secrets — for example, she hates socks. While the whole thing seems pretty innocuous, there's been a big backlash from her fans, who are complaining that the entertainer seems to be wearing a bad wig in pictures that appear to be heavily retouched. [Related: Stars Without Photoshop] In the photos, the 30-year-old singer's hairline does look lower than usual and her part is in a different spot. The texture of her locks also seems different — it's much fuller and more unnatural looking than what we see when she's seated at the judges' table, prompting rumors that she's wearing a wig or some type of a weave. One fan even tweeted at the mag, "Did @britneyspears even show up for the photoshoot or did you just photoshop her face on a body[?]" To us, Spears' tresses scream Kim Zolciak — and we all know that "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star is all about the wigs. [Related: Kim Zolciak Wigs Out] In the Lucky interview, Spears also talks about her issues dealing with acne, but you can't see a single mark on her face in the pics. While magazines are known for retouching, fans found this to be an "extreme" example with some saying she looks...

Best Thing Ever Happened to Me

...FIRST STEP TO REACH MY GOALS First step to reach my goals Fernanda Chavez English 1101 Professor McCaughan Keiser University March 4, 2010 FIRST STEP TO REACH MY GOALS First step to reach my goals The most important thing that has ever happened to me is when I got accepted to a university. Some people don’t understand how much difference a good education makes. It opens your eyes to a wider world. It helps you understand things you never understood before. It gives you opportunities for a better life that you would never have had without the education. But education isn’t enough how many PhD degree you get , your heart I till no different than anyone else’s. We’re all still basically selfish, out for what we can get, focused on taking care of just us, and making the best life for ourselves we can. The reason why education doesn’t solve everything is because we have a heart problem, not a head problem. I can have all the education I want, but if my heart is not a good, one I will never be successful in life. So get another degree. Fill your head with more knowledge, but remember to also fill your heart. My major is Business Administration and I dream of having my own business one day, a business where I can make other people feel better about them self, make them feel like they are in place where at that moment nothing matters but their happiness, where problems and worries are outside not inside. Everything started when I was little, my family has hotels in...

The Best Things in Life Is Definitely Not Free

...Free speech zone in universities Many campuses congratulate themselves on their sociability when they establish small free-speech zones where political things can be scheduled. Once I read in the Washington Post year ago, Texas Tech’s 28,000 students had a free-speech gazebo(the name of the free speech zone) that was big. Zones limit such free speech because they require students to get their permission for activities from school heads beforehand, which can then lead to discrimination. There are three main notes mentioned in the Washington post: At First, these are actually no means the types of free speech violations we see on campus. A look at FIRE’s case history it shows the true extent of threats to free speech on campus and the many ways they do it themselves. Second, speech code ratings of more than 400 universities around the country will provide you with a fuller appreciation of the many types of policies that indulge on the free speech rights of students.  Finally, most of my examples are with the cases at public universities, which are made by the First law. We may have seen many of these same cases; however, at the private universities many of which may not be legally made by the First law, still make more promises of free speech to their students in their policies. Private institutions are controlled by these promises which courts in many states have said as strict contracts. In California private secular colleges are required by law to afford students the same...

Bread Is the Best Thing Before Sliced Bread

...Bread is the best thing since sliced bread Defined by Kerr and Thomson (1998) as a “food made of flour or meal and baked”, is a popular and commonly eaten food in many countries (Baker 2006). The practice of buttering bread, however, is perhaps a little controversial. Crusty (2006) sees bread and butter together, not only as tasty and satisfying, but also as a classic food combination. This opinion is questioned, however, by Ciabatta (2007) who suggests that some breads, particularly open-textured Mediterranean types, are better served more naturally without fatty spreads. He further describes how the flavour of bread can be enhanced by the use of olive oil for dipping. It is apparent, therefore, that not only is there discrepancy in whether bread should in fact be served on its own, but also regarding the type of butter, spread or oil that is most appropriate as an accompaniment. Indeed, Lardy et al (2007) discuss the overwhelming selection available and suggests that choice needs to be based on many different aspects. Considerations should include intended use, taste, colour and nutritional content. It would seem from this list that many of these aspects are quite subjective, with one person, for example, preferring the taste and colour of butter over margarine. Even nutritional content may vary in importance and significance between individuals. Although intended use would appear to be the one area where rationale should underpin choice, Lardy et al (2007) do not explicitly...

I am willing to do whatever it takes for me to be that successful person in life; therefore, I am going to stick to going to school and push myself to where I want to be in life. To be successful, I have to get that proper knowledge first. The subfield I believe is best suited for providing psychological insight into my preference is the developmental psychology. The reasons I think this suit my situation because of the fact it states in the book "developmental psychology means studies of how people change pysically, cognitively, and socially over the entire life span (Baron and Kalsher, pg 11). The military preps you from how you used to be into the whole new person. ...stress? Stress is your body’s reaction to the things which you perceive as pressures. Stress occurs when you feel that you cannot cope with those pressures. Our bodies are designed to react in 2 ways to stress: to fight against the pressure, or to run from it. This is called the fight or flight response and it is controlled by the release of a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol makes your body react in ways that allow you to fight harder or run faster and it focuses your attention on the thing causing you stress. This response enables you to deal with stress effectively by either battling to get through the problem, or by removing yourself from a situation which is causing you to feel stressed. Sometimes we see so many pressures around us that stress can become a long term problem. Although being stressed for short periods of times can be good for us, long term stress can have negative consequences and lead to problem such as high blood pressure, anxiety and depression. © Microsoft Stressors Stressors are the things around us which can cause a stress response. There are different types of stressors, some of them are environmental (e.g. too much noise), daily pressures (e.g. being late), life changing events (e.g. divorce), social stressors (e.g. family commitments), chemical stressors (e.g. alcohol) and workplace stressors. The stressors you experience in college could be called workplace stressors, and the main thing likely to cause you stress at college is your...

...destination and when the package should arrive. Even before the package is picked up, information from the "smart" label is transmitted to one of the UPS computer centers and then sent to the closest center for the destination, they even download it and create the most efficient delivery route. The first thing a UPS driver picks up each day is a handheld computer called a Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD), which they can log into and download the route, it's then uploaded for storage that takes less than a minute and processing and can be accessed worldwide for proof or customer queries. Because of these things what UPS has done is made the delivery as efficient as possible and highly monitored by both them and their customers. Basically storing all different information such as the destination, the time it should arrive as well as the customers information. What technologies are used by UPS? How are these technologies related to UPS’s business strategy? Now the second question asks how the technology relates to their business strategy, and the only thing i could find regarding their business strategy is one quote from 1907 that promised: “The best service and lowest rates.” So with that in mind lets start with the scannable bar-coded label. It attached to a package which we already mentioned contains important information concerning the package, customers can download and print their own labels using special software provided by UPS or by accessing...

25 Ways to Get the Most Out of Now

...EN110 Achieving Academic Excellence Assignment 02 EN110 Achieving Academic Excellence 25 Ways to Get the Most Out of Now There are several time management techniques to help a person get the most out of now. The following ten methods are what I feel to be most beneficial: 1. Be aware of your best time of day. Being aware of the best time of day to study is especially beneficial to me because throughout the years, I have learned that no matter how hard I try I cannot study late at night – least wise not effectively. I know I am simply a morning student. Knowing when you are most productive helps to schedule your day and also reduces the guilty feeling of “slow” periods because you have planned for them. 2. Learn to say no. In the beginning of my studies, learning to say no was an easy task for me. I was excited about class and I wanted to succeed. As school continued, I found it harder to say no because I was nervous friends and family would begin to think I was “giving them excuses.” I learned an effective way to communicate my needs with them, and soon “saying no” was a perfectly acceptable and efficient response for both parties. 3. Avoid noise distractions. Avoiding noise distractions is an area that requires the most focus for me. I cannot study or work when I have background noise. Knowing this helps to plan my activities throughout the day so I can be the most productive and not back track my efforts constantly. 4. Ask: Would I pay myself for...

...what really is a hero? A hero is someone who shows remarkable perseverance and courage. Perseverance means that you never give up and courage is when you are not afraid to do something. A hero should also be hard working which means they always do their best and does it diligently. Anyone who shows any of these qualities is a hero. A true hero is a person that is hard working. Jackie Robinson is perfect for this. He was the 1st African American to play major league baseball in history. His road to success was not so easy though. He was mistreated by all of the other white players in the league because they didn’t like him. Jackie Robinson was constantly getting big cuts on his legs because when he would slide into base, the other players would get him with the bottom of their cleats. Jackie Robinson was on the Brooklyn Dodgers so many of his own teammates did not like him. Many of the pitchers from other teams threw the ball at him which gave him many bruises. Despite all of this, Jackie Robinson became a star in baseball and led the Brooklyn Dodgers to a World Series appearance. This example of Jackie Robinson shows that no matter how much adversity you go through, if you keep on working hard, you can achieve great things. Heroes also show the great quality of perseverance. Harriet Tubman is someone who showed exemplary perseverance. She was a slave that worked hard, but was still abused by her plantation owner. One day she decided that she was going to escape and that’s...

...with. Reading the article on the minimizer made me think of the thing that people say “There is no I in team”. This is the opposite approach of how most people typically refer to this phrase however, it still applies here. Mark (the minimizer) is actually part of a team, a team that includes three other people but yet he seems to think that he should only focus on his particular job duties and not have to play a part in the team project that he has been put on. The first thing I have to do is ask myself rather or not volunteered himself to be part of this project or if he was asked/chosen involuntarily to be part of this project. If he was asked/chosen to be on this project I would say that Mark should have been honest in the beginning and told whoever asked him that he was not interested in doing anything other than his specified job description. If Mark volunteered then I would have to ask myself why would a person like this who clearly knows that he does not have any interest in doing anything other than his particular responsibilities volunteer himself for something like that. HE clearly has no interest in furthering himself beyond the position that he is currently in and he is clearly content with performing only his specified job responsibilities. Guys vs. Men

...English 101L: Composition February 2, 2008 Summary DAVE BARRY Guys vs. Men Dave Barry’s insight in Guys vs. Men begins to explore the world of the male figure. Barry touches base on a few things that he believes separates guys and men apart. Barry first mentions that “Guys Like Neat Stuff” and begins to explain that guys enjoy things that are unnecessary to have and perhaps a bit over the top but they are things that make them happy and keep them entertained. Barry then moves into talking about how “Guys Like A Really Pointless Challenge”. Barry mentions that guys often engage in activities that are beyond what should be the standard rational of middle aged men. His thoughts on how “Guys Do Not Have A Well-Defined Moral Code” briefly delves into how guys know that they are expected to perform and act a certain way, yet they often completely disregard these ideas held by others on how they should act, not on purpose but just because they are in fact guys. The last thing Barry brings up is that “Guys Are Not Great At Communicating Their Intimate Feelings, Assuming They Have Any”. Barry presents the idea that guys tend to keep personal issues, just that, personal. Guys generally keep answers to questions they don’t want to answer brief at best, and the only time they share how they feel is most often when in the company of another guy friend. Dave Barry’s Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting and seemingly true effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that...
